Wedbush said on Monday that before officially announcing the Apple Car partnership in 2021, Apple is playing a "dating game" for electric cars.
In a report to investors, analyst Daniel Ives said that recent reports of the breakdown of negotiations between Apple and Hyundai and other automakers are part of Apple's process of selecting electric vehicle partners.
The analyst also pointed out that there have been rumors recently that Nissan has expressed interest in producing Apple Cars. Although the Japanese automaker later clarified that it did not negotiate with Apple, Ives said that the rumors of the discussion further proved Apple's "dating game" for electric cars.
The analyst said that when it comes to Apple building cars, this is a question of "when, not if". The analyst reiterated his prediction that Apple has at least 85% chance of officially announcing its strategic partnership in the next three to six months.
As for partners, he added that cooperating with established companies such as Hyundai, Tesla, Ford, Nio or Volkswagen will be "the next decade "Golden Partnership".
The analyst concluded: "In short, Apple with suitable partners will become a major force in the electric vehicle industry. If Apple can get Apple Car on the road by 2024, it may disrupt The market share of the industry."
