This article talks about the first hexagram in the Book of Changes, the Qian hexagram. Since the two hexagrams of Qian and Kun are the key to learning the Book of Changes, we plan to learn Qian hexagram from three perspectives: hexagram images, line words, and the use of Qian hexagram.
This article only discusses the hexagrams of the I Ching.
彖传
"彖" says: Great is the Qianyuan Dynasty, the beginning of all things, and the unification of heaven. The clouds are moving and the rain is flowing, and the goods are flowing. The Ming Dynasty came to an end, and the six figures were completed. At that time, he rode six dragons to control the sky. The main road changes, and each person's life is corrected. To maintain harmony is to benefit chastity. The first common people come out, and all nations are prosperous.
Qian Gua symbolizes the beginning of all things and the sky. After the clouds in the sky move and the rain falls, they give various shapes to the earth, forming a vast world.
Great light finally began to appear, and the six-yao position slowly took shape.
Different individuals cycle through these six positions (only six lines, six stages...), forming their own different destiny trajectories.

Elephant said: Heaven is healthy . A gentleman strives for self-improvement.

Hexagram analysis
Stem: Yuan, Heng, Li, Zhen.
Qian is the sky, strong and upright. It symbolizes the dragon (a gentleman with both virtue and talent), and also symbolizes pure Yang and health, indicating prosperity and strength. The Qian hexagram is based on the principle of adaptability of all things, with "Yuan, Heng, Li, Zhen" as the hexagrams, indicating good luck and good luck, and teaching people to abide by the virtues of heaven.
To understand the hexagrams, you need to look at how it is explained in classical Chinese biographies:
Classical Chinese says: Yuan means the growth of goodness; prosperity means the gathering of good people; benefit means the harmony of righteousness; chastity means the stem of things. also.
A gentleman's benevolence is enough to grow others; a good gathering is enough to be polite; a favor is enough to maintain justice; a chastity is enough to do things; a gentleman practices these four virtues, so it is said: "Qian, Yuan, Heng, Li, Zhen." ”
Therefore, the Qian hexagram begins with teaching people what qualities they should possess before “continuous self-improvement”:
- yuan : Keep good thoughts forever. Teach readers to first have good thoughts.
- heng: Understand etiquette and know the etiquette. Teach readers to be polite and humble.
- 利: It must be in line with the righteousness. Teach readers not to do anything that undermines justice.
- 正: You must have perseverance and patience to do things.

The word Zhen is not very clear. Literally, zhen means steadfastness, which means consistency. Why did Mr. Tsang interpret it as fair? Readers who understand are welcome to give any advice.

Looking from the hexagrams, the Qian hexagram not only symbolizes its majesty and the creation of all things (note that it creates all things, but does not represent all things. Qian is energy and Yang Qi, it is not a substance and does not represent any physical object), but it is also a To educate the world, one must possess good moral character (personal opinion, which also means that one must be mindful and cultivate oneself before studying the Book of Changes).
