The "blue roof" in Volvo Cars Asia-Pacific headquarters - the solar photovoltaic project is officially connected to the grid to generate power
The Volvo Cars Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai was put into use in 2019. The total land area of the park is about 200,000 square meters, including Volvo Cars Asia-Pacific design, R&D, industrial and commercial operations and other functional departments related to the entire value chain of the automobile. The main buildings of the park include the Asia-Pacific headquarters building, the Asia-Pacific design center and the R&D center.
Volvo Cars is committed to becoming a benchmark climate zero-load enterprise in 2040, and its own operating locations will play a key role. "The design, construction and daily operation of the Asia-Pacific headquarters park are fully integrated into the concept of sustainable development, and achieve continuous empowerment through the comprehensive use of green technology and green energy. Volvo Cars will continue to practice sustainable development, and hope to drive the green upgrade of the entire value chain." Volvo Cars Group Global Senior Vice-President

Volvo Cars Asia-Pacific headquarters fully implements sustainable development through continuous innovation and process upgrades. The real-time data large screen of the "Asia-Pacific Headquarters Campus Intelligent Carbon Footprint" established in the headquarters building is Volvo Cars' latest green innovation initiative.
By the real-time calculation and update of the backend energy intelligent management system, the "Asia-Pacific Headquarters Park Intelligent Carbon Footprint" can present the park's various carbon emission data in real time, including total energy consumption and carbon emissions, clean energy usage, and solar photovoltaic power generation situation, commuting and travel carbon emissions of employees and visitors, etc. By turning the "abstract description" of sustainable development into "concrete expression", Volvo Cars advocates sustainable work and lifestyles to employees and visitors, and jointly strives for sustainable development.

In addition to paying attention to the openness and transparency of sustainable development data, continuous reduction of energy use and improving energy efficiency also occupies the highest priority in the daily operations of Volvo Cars Asia Pacific Headquarters. For example, office workstations are arranged within 10 meters by the window to provide employees with sufficient natural light. The building automatic control system can centrally control and optimize the lighting in open office areas. Human sensing detectors are installed in the conference room. If the conference room is not used for a long time, the lighting will automatically go out. All lighting uses LED lamps with high color rendering index, which further reduces energy consumption while ensuring lighting effects. Volvo Cars Asia Pacific has continuously upgraded its intelligent building control system to keep the equipment running at its best and can save more than 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
Green and healthy office environment stimulates green innovation
"Entering the park in all seasons, smelling the fragrance of flowers in all seasons", this is the personal experience brought by Volvo Cars Asia Pacific headquarters to every park in all seasons. Under the design concept of sustainable development, the park cleverly weaves humanistic care and green health elements into a unique design. Through the improvement of biodiversity in the park environment, it has created a spatial model of harmonious coexistence between man and nature for future offices. In the entire park planning , several walls adopt the landscaping technique of "planting instead of walls", using sufficient oxygen-rich plants to improve the spatial microenvironment, give full play to the natural temperature and humidity regulation of plants, form a natural dust removal oxygen bar, and make the entire building more energy-saving and environmentally friendly. With its outstanding leading position in indoor environments, Volvo Cars Asia Pacific headquarters building has also obtained WELL Platinum-grade Health Building certification.

"Modern offices are usually in the world of reinforced concrete, which isolates the connection with nature, but Volvo Cars is committed to creating a healthy environment for working in nature," said Li Xianghua, administrative director of Volvo Cars Asia Pacific. "In this way, our employees can continue to explore green and low-carbon and electrification technologies in a more relaxed environment to lead green innovation.”
In the process of green innovation, the Asia-Pacific region with China as its core will play an important role. By building an electrification ecosystem, promoting the evolution and upgrading of business models, and promoting the application of clean energy in the entire value chain including suppliers, dealers, consumers, etc., we will continue to reduce the carbon footprint. In addition to the latest solar photovoltaic power generation projects put into use at the Asia-Pacific headquarters, Volvo Cars will continue to increase the use of clean energy, including expanding its own power generation projects, and helping to fully achieve the climate zero load target through zero load in the operational link.
