According to documents released by the U.S. Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA), the vehicles involved in this recall are Polestar 1 models produced from September 11, 2019 to May 12, 2021, a total of 66 vehicles. After investigation, when the power battery carried by the relevant vehicle is fully charged, that is, when the SOC reaches 100%, the battery pack temperature control unit may fail, causing it to overheat, and there may even be a risk of fire due to thermal runaway.

It is reported that Polestar has started to contact car owners involved in power battery overheating problems on December 19, and will upgrade the software of the vehicles within the recall scope so that the power battery power cannot reach a full charge state to prevent the occurrence of overheating.
