On December 9, Ford launched the third-generation GT track version (GT Mk IV for short), which is the most extreme GT version of to date and the last generation of GT racing cars. The is said to offer the highest level of performance and handling compared to the previous two generations, thanks to infrastructure tuning and aerodynamic improvements. The 2023 Ford GT Mk IV will be produced in limited quantities by Multimatic, as a tribute to the first-generation Mk IV race car of the 1967 Le Mans 24 Hours champion.
From the appearance, the 2023 Ford GT Mk IV can recognize this at a glance. However, it uses a completely redesigned carbon fiber body, with a longer wheelbase and a longer tail. Most LED headlights are in the same color as the body, the lower head adopts NACA-style vents, and the wider fenders leave more space for the air intake. Ford Performance Motorsports Mark Rushbrook described the Ford GT Mk IV as "the ultimate farewell to the third-generation supercar." The most extreme track-only Ford GT ever started at a price of "expectedly around $1.7 million" and excludes taxes, ownership and registration fees. Ford will start delivering GT Mk IV by the end of next quarter.
