21st Century Business Herald Special Correspondent Qian Boyan Frankfurt reported
On October 3, local time, Sixt, the leading European car rental company, announced a cooperation agreement with BYD , and will purchase 100,000 BYD new energy vehicles in the next six years to complete the zero-carbon upgrade of the existing fleet.
Currently, Sixt has confirmed that the first batch of orders with a scale of thousands will be delivered this winter, and will be put into use in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands . All new energy vehicles in this batch are BYD Atto 3, which is the latest overseas version of the Yuan PLUS launched by BYD in Europe. Although both parties did not disclose the specific amount of the order of 100,000 vehicles, based on the pricing of Atto 3's 38,000 euros in the European market, the total amount of a package of orders should be around 300 million euros.
According to the previous company plan of Sixt CEO Alexander Sixt, the company will replace 70% to 90% of its fleet with new energy vehicles in the next eight years. Although Sixt has always emphasized that it will conduct diversified procurement of new energy vehicles, and has previously reached a new energy vehicle order agreement with local traditional European car companies such as Audi , Opel , Tesla , Peugeot , Peugeot , but considering that the orders of 100,000 BYD this time account for more than 40% of the total size of Sixt's fleet of 240,000 vehicles, it means that BYD has essentially won half of the Sixt new energy fleet.
Stefan Bratzel, director of the German Institute of Automotive Management (CAM), believes that the reason why Sixt gave BYD a large order is to maintain its competitiveness in the industry and the speed of its fleet's renewal. Stefan Bratzel said in an interview with the German Business Daily: "In the field of electric vehicles, Chinese companies have stronger delivery capabilities than German auto manufacturers. The BMW or Opel electric vehicles ordered by Sixt often require more than one year to deliver."
Although BYD has received much less media attention in the past few years than the first generation of new car-making forces represented by "Villy Li", in March this year, BYD quickly opened the gap with new forces, and monthly sales exceeded 100,000 for the first time, and then surpassed Tesla in June this year to become the global sales champion of new energy vehicles. However, unlike Tesla, which has layouts in the three major markets of Europe, America and Asia, most of BYD's global sales are concentrated in the Chinese local market, and the presence of overseas markets has always been extremely weak.
htmlOn September 28, BYD held a press conference in Europe and announced the selection of three models: BYD Tang , Han and Atto 3 (i.e. Yuan PLUS) as the first batch of models to enter the European market, with prices of 72,000 euros, 72,000 euros and 38,000 euros respectively. The first batch of sales countries are the Nordic countries, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
Early on July 21, BYD also announced its entry into the Japanese market and chose Atto 3, BYD Seal and BYD Dolphin as the first batch of models. Atto 3 is expected to officially land in Japan in January next year, while seals and dolphins will enter the Japanese market in mid-2023.
is different from NIO , which has entered Europe through Norwegian and opened Nio House in Oslo , which is more secure, BYD chose to contact corporate users like Sixt and open the market from a B2B perspective. On the other hand, BYD also chose the Swedish Hedin Mobility Group Group, which has 230 dealers in Europe, to be responsible for sales and after-sales services.
In addition to BYD, NIO will also officially announce its entry into the German market on October 7. This is also the first time that NIO, a new Chinese car-making force, has entered the Western power market for the first time since Norway.
