This can be seen through Ideal's financial report: According to the released financial report, Ideal's net loss in the second quarter of this year reached 641 million, and the delivery volume in August was only 4,571 units, a decrease of 51.54% compared with the same period last year. Profit pressure forces Ideal to compress costs through "mass dolls", and the listing of L8 is more like a "market rescue" behavior. So, as the "wish of the whole village", can L8 continue its ideal glory?
In my opinion, this hope is relatively slim. The main reason is that the L8's power system still uses extended-range models. As we all know, the working logic of extended-range models is to use internal combustion engines to generate electricity and then use electric drives. The advantage is that it can effectively alleviate the process anxiety caused by the failure of charging piles to become popular. But its shortcomings are also obvious: although it claims to be a new energy vehicle, it still has not gotten rid of petrochemical energy, which is of no benefit to energy conservation and emission reduction. Moreover, if it is in a better road condition, its working logic is completely equivalent to "take off your pants and fart", which cannot save fuel or achieve excellent motivation. And with the improvement of charging piles nationwide, car owners' mileage anxiety will be alleviated, and the advantages of extended-range technology will no longer exist. Industry tycoon Weipai CEO O Li Ruifeng once pointed out that the extended-range technology is backward and cannot be considered a new energy product in the full sense.
Moreover, with the continuous maturity of new energy technology, the government's policy support for extended-range models is gradually tightening. As early as 2021, Shanghai issued the "HTML Measures for Encouraging the Purchase and Use of New Energy Vehicles in Shanghai", proposing that from January 1, 2023, consumers will purchase plug-in hybrid (including extended-range) cars, and Shanghai will no longer issue green license plates. Beijing, which is also a city with the key use of new energy vehicles, has not included extended-range models in the special license issuance quota. It is not difficult to see that the extended-range models will be excluded from the new energy field nationwide. Without the most important policy support, extended-range models will inevitably fall into a deadlock in fuel vehicles and will eventually end with withdrawing from the domestic market.
Technology lags behind and policies are tightening, causing a number of new energy vehicle companies to avoid the route of extended-range and turn to the pure electric field. Among them, Huawei , which has entered the industry from an extended range model, recently jointly launched its first pure electric model with Cialis. The "king" , BYD , in the domestic mixed electricity field, is also gradually increasing the research and development of pure electric products. In fact, Ideal Auto also announced that it will release its first pure electric model in 2023. As the car company with the largest sales of extended ranges in China, the ideal product layout is enough to show that it agrees that it will always be the world of pure electric in the future, and extended ranges will always be a transition technology, not a new energy in the complete sense.
It is not difficult to see that the extended range technology is a Plan B given by the three-electric technology that has not yet met people's needs. With the advancement of technology, it will eventually withdraw from the new energy stage.
