Aegis is the third generation of GPR's proprietary radar and has been mass-produced by car manufacturers. Compared with the previous version, the latest product has a shorter development cycle, 80% smaller per unit, lower power consumption, and improved performance.
Using Ground Positioning Radar™, GPR can map the road infrastructure under the vehicle and can remain completely unique and stable for a long period of time, similar to fingerprints. Therefore, vehicles equipped with GPR can travel within the map area. Regardless of the environment around the vehicle, such as bad weather, lack of clear lane markings or landmarks, and when in the parking garage, these vehicles can quickly find their position with extremely high accuracy and reliability.
GPR co-founder and CEO Tarik Bolat said: “As the company continues to meet the massive needs of automakers, that is, autonomous driving functions that can operate well under harsh road conditions, Aegis marks a turning point in the development of GPR. Our auto manufacturer partners are very aware that GPR has the potential to fundamentally change the autonomous driving experience."
GPR co-founder and chief technology officer Byron Stanley said: "The release of Aegis marks a major step forward for GPR and the industry. Because we are close to commercializing the first similar product. GPR can provide extremely accurate and reliable vehicle positioning to meet the needs of automakers and drivers for today’s safer and higher-performance advanced driving assistance systems. And the urgent need for solutions to realize the future of autonomous driving.
GPR is working with some of the world's largest original equipment manufacturers and suppliers to integrate its centimeter-level precision technology into consumer vehicles and commercial trucks to promote the development of ADAS technology, thereby further accelerating the commercialization of autonomous vehicles.
Earlier this year, GPR announced the completion of a $15 million round of financing. This investment was led by top technology investors Rhapsody Venture Partners and Impossible Ventures.
