Buddha and his waiter went out to do business. It was the hot summer, so after walking for a while, they felt dry mouth.
When the Buddha persisted until noon, he felt so hungry and thirsty, so he said to the waiter: "Didn't we pass by a small river just now? You can go there to get some water to drink."
So the waiter took the container to the small river to fill water. The road was not far away, and he found it in a short while, but by chance, as soon as he got there, he saw several merchants riding horses passing by the stream. The stream water was turbid and could not be drunk at all! Seeing this, the waiter turned around and went back.
The Buddha saw him returning empty-handed and was about to blame the waiter. Unexpectedly, the waiter told the Buddha first, "I found the small river, but just now I saw with my own eyes that the stream was dirty by some merchants and could not drink at all. Let's find a stream again! I knew there was a stream ahead, and the stream was very clear, not far from here, and it would take two hours to get there.
The Buddha was extremely thirsty and said, "Why do you have to do this? We are close to this stream, and I am already thirsty. If I go to find the stream ahead, I will have to walk two hours without walking. You should go to the stream just now to fill some water. "
When the waiter heard this, he was full of unhappy and reluctantly took the container and went again. On the way, he thought, "Master is really, didn't you see it just now? The water is so dirty, how can you drink it? Now I'm asking me to go again. Isn't this a waste of time?"
Thinking of this, the waiter stopped and decided not to go. He turned around and said to the Buddha: "I just told you that the stream water has been dirty by others. Why did you have to go for a waste?"
The Buddha did not explain anything to him and said, "You must be patient in everything. Never take advantage of the opportunity. You will know what's going on after a while. Now you just need to obey me, and I promise you won't be in vain. ”
After hearing what the Buddha said, the waiter went reluctantly again, but what surprised him was that when he came to this stream again, he saw clear and pure stream water, and the dirty mud and sand had long disappeared.
