1·September 19th Guanyin Birth
Guanyin Bodhisattva is one of the four great bodhisattvas in Buddhism, and is also the left servant of Amitabha Buddha. It is known as the "Three Saints of the West" together with Amitabha Buddha and Mahasthamaprapta . It is also known as the "Four Great Bodhisattvas" together with Manjushri Bodhisattva , Samantabhadra Bodhisattva , and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva .
According to legend, Guanyin Bodhisattva's birthday is the 19th day of the second lunar month, the day of enlightenment is the 19th day of the sixth lunar month, and the day of Nirvana and Buddha is the 19th day of the ninth lunar month, so people believe that the 19th day of the nineteenth day of the birthday of Guanyin Buddha.
There are many folk legends about Guanyin. The earliest records come from the Song Dynasty's "Quwu Old News", and later special introduction works appeared. But the most widely circulated is written in the Song Dynasty's "Book of Guanyin" that Guanyin was the daughter of Miaoshan, the king of Miaozhuang, Xinglin Kingdom. Because he was kind to the Tao since childhood, he finally achieved the right result.
Buddhist scriptures contain Guanyin who became a Buddha in ancient times. His real name is "未 (xu)". He is the eldest son of Wheel King Wuzheng Nian. Because he vowed to "the sound of seeking help was heard by my heavenly ears and seen by my heavenly eyes", he was named Guanyin.
Guanyin Bodhisattva ranks first among all the great Bodhisattvas in Buddhism. He is the most respected and worshipped among the people and has the most believers. He is known as "Amitabha Buddha in every family and Guanyin in every household".
"The Lotus Sutra: Universal Door Chapter" says: Hundreds and thousands of sentient beings suffer from all sufferings, and hear that it is Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva , and they are named with all their hearts. Guanyin Bodhisattva, observing his voice immediately, will all be liberated.
Among the people, Guanyin Bodhisattva is a compassionate Buddha. When a person dies, he only needs to recite his name to be at peace.
In "Journey to the West", the image of Guanyin Bodhisattva is dignified and kind, holding a pure bottle of willow, with infinite divine power and wisdom, to save all sufferings in the world, and this image is also derived from the common understanding of Guanyin among the people.
It is said that the world is suffering and difficult. Whether it is to seek peace in danger, seek blessings in accordance with circumstances, propose marriage and children, as long as you are dedicated to good and have no evil thoughts, and recite the name piously, you can be heard.
2·September 19th Double Ninth Festival
In traditional culture, nine is the largest yang number, and the yang pole produces yin; nine corresponds to the month of Xu in the year, and the month of Xu is also the month when autumn metal reaches its peak and winter water is produced.
September is the extreme sunny month, and the extreme sunny day in the yang month is Double Ninth day, so people call 9th day of the 9th month "Little Double Ninth", 19th day of September is "Great Double Ninth day", and 29th day of September is "The Last Double Ninth day".
The nineteenth month of this year is the month of Gengxu and Gengzi. Xu is Yang earth and Zi is Yang water. Therefore, the Great Double Ninth Festival on this date is also the "Great Double Ninth Festival" in the five elements.
In each season, the closer to the "King of the Season", that is, the day when the main energy in the month, the stronger the season's power will be, and then gradually weakens; in each month, the closer to the sun in the month, the stronger the month's power will be. Therefore, among the three Double Ninth Festivals in September, the power of September 19th is the strongest and the yang energy is the strongest, and then it begins to go downhill.
So September 19 is a good day to climb high and bask in the sun. Climbing high and basking in the sun can increase the yang energy in the body and drive away evil and avoid diseases. You can also take out clothes and grain to dry them to prepare for winter. The folk saying "Dangling the Double Ninth Festival, just one winter" and "Dangling the Double Ninth Festival , Autumn , no worries in all seasons" comes from this.
September 19 is a sunny month and a sunny day, which should be sunny rather than yin. As the saying goes, "Double Ninth Festival is sunny, one winter is sunny; Double Ninth Festival is yin, one winter is stuffy." Only when crops in the cold fields grow well in winter, and people suffer from less epidemics. If it is cloudy, winter will be dominated by semi-cloud and unhappy weather.
3·Distant wanderers do not hurry to return to
September 19th, except for the birthday of Guanyin Buddha, the Lord of the Double Ninth Festival, this day is still a taboo.
In ancient times, transportation was underdeveloped and public security was not good, so it was very particular about going out and going home, such as "not going out for seven or eight", "not going home for three or six or nine, going out", "not going out for the first and fifteenth day of the day", "etc.
believes that if you commit a taboo on days when you shouldn’t go out or go home, it will bring bad things to yourself and your family.
"Guiji" is one of them. The Calendar records: 's return to the death day, the four Mengs are in Chou, 4 Zhong is in Yin, and the four seasons are in Zi. It is not possible to travel far, return home or move.
"Hou Han Book " also tells the story of "returning": During the reign of Emperor Huan, there was Chen Bojing in Runan ,... I heard that he was in danger when I heard that he was in trouble, so I stopped him and stayed there. When I was still in danger when I returned, I stayed in the town pavilion. means that someone was afraid of returning home when he went home, so he found a place to stay.
The first month of a season is Meng, the next month is Zhong, and the last month is Season. The three months in autumn are Shen, You and Xu, and Xu is the month of the lunar month, so the Gengzi day on September 19th is the day of return.
People who travel far away should not choose this day to return, so they said, "Do not rush to return."
