Ming Jiajing "Jiangyin County Chronicle" records: Wukong Temple was originally named "Zhaoyinyuan". Since then, the incense of Wukong Temple has flourished, and it is said that there are as many as 5048 temples.

Cai Xiang, a famous calligrapher in the Northern Song Dynasty, lived in Wukong Temple for many years. The eminent monk Yigong, who was given imperial books and purple cassocks, once gave lectures at Wukong Temple and became a famous temple in the south of the Yangtze River.

The Huazang Pagoda in the temple, and the Xingguo Pagoda in Jiangyin City, are known as the Chengjiang Twin Pagodas because of the similarity in shape. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, all except the Huazang Pagoda were destroyed by war. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Wukong Temple was repeatedly built and destroyed. In 1923, after the collapse of Huazang Pagoda in 918, Wukong Temple became a ruin.

On November 28, 2003, the real relics of the eminent monks and monks of the Tang Dynasty came to life at the former site of Wukong Temple, which caused a sensation in Buddhism at home and abroad, and also opened the prelude to the reconstruction of Wukong Temple's nirvana.

On December 21, 2004, Wuxi Municipal Government officially approved Wukong Temple as a legal religious activity site, and planned to build Jiangyin Guanyin Cultural Expo Park with Wukong Temple as the core. On December 23, the foundation stone laying ceremony for the reconstruction of Wukong Temple was grandly held at the original site. Master Yicheng, Master Mingxue, Master Songchun, Master Wuxiang, Master Jueguang and other eminent monks attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Master Song Chun inscribed on the spot: "Reproduce the light" in four big characters.

On October 20, 2011, Jiangyin Guanyin Cultural Expo Park bells and drums chimed in unison, Buddhist music sounded, eminent monks and great virtues from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, tens of thousands of believers and laymen gathered in Jiangyin to celebrate the reconstruction of the nirvana of the thousand-year-old Wukong Temple. The United Front Work Department of the Central Committee, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the State Administration for Religious Affairs, the China Religious and Cultural Exchange Association, the Buddhist Association of China, the heads of relevant departments in Jiangsu Province, Wuxi City, and Jiangyin City, as well as eminent monks and devotees from all over the world, and tens of thousands of believers attended the consecration ceremony. Activity.

The reconstructed Wukong Temple covers an area of ​​209 acres, imitating the Song Dynasty style. There are Shanmen Hall, Tusita Inner Courtyard, East and West Side Hall, Bell and Drum Tower, Yuantong Hall, Xinjing Pavilion, Guoshi Tower, Sangha Hall, Guanyin Tower, Abbot Building, First Liao, Seng Liao, Guanyin Culture Exhibition Hall, Su Zhai Hall Wait.

The temple of the mountain gate is dedicated to Maitreya with a big belly, the art of root carving, vivid, solemn and simple, Maitreya smiles, amiable.

Tusi Inner Courtyard, the decoration of the whole hall breaks the traditional style and is decorated with curtain wall, making the hall bright and spacious without losing solemnity.

The plaque in the Tusui Inner Court reads "Save all misery".

In the center of the inner courtyard of Tusita, Maitreya, the crown of the sky, is enshrined. Behind the Maitreya Bodhisattva, Wei Tuo Bodhisattva is enshrined.

Yuantong Treasure Hall is a large and transparent hall, which can accommodate more than 1,800 people at the same time, and is the most attractive hall in the entire temple.

Yuantong Treasure Hall enshrines Wanshou Avalokitesvara (the Sea of ​​Avalokitesvara), the main deity Zhengfa Ming Tathagata is 13.66 meters high, the Amitabha Buddha held up by both hands is 4.8 meters, and the ten thousand hands are stretched in four directions. Avalokitesvara holds lotus lamps and other treasures, which is magnificent .

The hall integrates laser and laser technology for sound and photoelectric design, which is vivid and mysterious.

Wukong Temple Yakushi Hall, this three-story attic building, the first floor is the Yakushi Hall, the second floor is the Jade Buddha Hall, and the third floor is the Heart Sutra Pavilion. The overall style of the building is imitating the Song Dynasty, the only difference is that the first floor is made of tempered glass, and the scene inside can be seen from the outside.

The three pharmacists and 12 gods in the glazed world are enshrined in the pharmacist hall. They are made with glazed craftsmanship, and they appear more holy and solemn under the background of lights.

The National Teacher Building, built to commemorate the Jiangyin National Teacher Yulin of the Qing Dynasty.

The Guanyin Pagoda was rebuilt on the original site of the original Huazang Pagoda. On November 28, 2003, a rescue excavation was carried out at the site of Huazang Pagoda, and a stone letter containing a silver bottle of relics was unearthed in the base palace of the Pagoda. The inscription on the stone letter says that in the third year of Jingde (AD 1006), the monk Ying Yun of Wukong Temple and the follower Shen Weisu, for the worship of the real body relic of the great sage of Sizhou in the Tang Dynasty, raised the predestined relationship and built the "Sizhou Great Holy Pagoda". ", by Shan Cong of Taiping Xingguo Temple in Changzhou, who received the relics, he personally stored the relics in a silver bottle. The excavation of the Sangha relics revealed the secret that the pagoda is not called the Great Holy Pagoda in Sizhou but the Huazang Pagoda.

The Guanyin Pagoda is 33 meters high, with a stone-carved tower body, solemn and magnificent, with delicate carvings.
