The old saying goes: "The ultimate way is not difficult, but you only want to choose." That is to say, the supreme way is not difficult, I am afraid that someone will choose this or that.
The little monks in the temple like to complain about the world and often complain about this and that. The old monk always listened to his complaints patiently without saying a word. The little monk couldn't help it and asked, "Master, why don't you help me resolve my worries?"
The old monk asked him to take some salt, put it in a glass of water, and then took a sip to taste the taste. The little monk spit out and said, "It's too bitter!"
The old monk asked him to take some more salt, took him to the riverside, and asked him to put the salt into the river, and said, "Do you taste the bitterness of the river?" The little monk took a sip and shook his head and said that it was no more bitter.
The old monk looked at him lovingly and said, "The pain experienced in life is like these salts. There is a certain amount of it, not too much, nor too little. But people have different capacity to endure pain. When you feel that everything is not going well, it is better to put the troubles and pains into the river water instead of a glass of water." The little monk nodded.
After some days, the old monk could not hear the complaints of the little monk and asked him, "What changes have these days changed compared to those days in the past?"
The little monk said, "The present days are not much different from the past days. They are not too good, but they are not too bad."
The old monk smiled and said, "Why don't you complain anymore?" The little monk scratched his head and smiled embarrassedly.
The old monk said, "I will tell you again: a person's happiness is not about having more, but about taking less care."
Many worries in life, a casual word, a look, or an action of others, may disrupt the peace of our hearts, making us either swallow our anger or unable to extricate ourselves. It's all because I love to compare and I care too much. The concern of gains and losses, the concern of existence and non-existence, and the concern of good and bad are actually unsatisfactory in life, and there are many trivial matters. Is it really that I am missing something? Of course not, it is because I always think that I care too much about certain places and be better than others. It is this mentality of comparing each other that has brought countless troubles to my life.
Therefore, we must uphold the attitude of "not comparing or not caring" in order to be considerate and tolerant of ourselves in dealing with people and deal with others. Of course, not caring is not only reflected in handling something in daily life, but also sublimated into a life attitude towards dealing with people and things. Not caring about the meaning is not limited to understanding and care between people, but tolerant and fraternity for all life in the world.
