Nicky Hamilton is an award-winning British photographer, director and artistic director of M&C Saatchi, a leading advertising company.
His photography creation is highly cinematic, in his works, through careful design and construction of scenes to create extraordinary details and narrative pictures.
His works use expression and symbolic techniques to explore the emotional state of the characters and create profound emotional works.
"The Lonely Man"
The photographer spent more than three months designing this meticulous scene inspired by the movie world. The scenes are complex and diverse. The aesthetics and atmosphere are presented again. All the works taken are telling stories.
"Lonely Man" is a reflection of my childhood relationship with my father. Each photo is a reappearance of the moment that shaped my young life. Each painting took about 3 months to create, from the initial concept sketch to the creation of the landscape, from the scene's props, decorations and styles to find lighting, shooting and post-production.
Create a project in such a long time has a passion for sharing work and a desire to turn to new things.
Lonely person is a deep personal project. These 13 images explore my childhood relationship with my father, which took place after the declaration of bankruptcy in the 1980s through a "police raid, guns, drugs, violence, and ultimately a maze of redemption."
In the early years, my father started working as a construction worker. Simple things, plenty of holidays, so are laughter.
In the mid-80s, my father lost his business in a strange event and had to declare himself bankrupt and recently bought a dream home he could never afford.
Due to the weak economy, he turned to crime, which turned him into a drug addict, and one day he would call his son and ask me to stop him from committing suicide.
In Nicky Hamilton's work, I feel a very subtle intimate character of each character. Nicky's photos allow viewers to eavesdrop on and peek into realistic storylines. His choices and ideas are interesting and help him present a complete meaningful narrative.
Nicky Hamilton's real technique of shooting is inconsistent with the expression technique, and he expresses symbolic meaning through shooting.
In the role of American photographic realist artist Robert Bettle, Nicky tries to capture the real thing and make us believe the plot.
In the same shooting creation, his work is like in Tim's paintings, and his photo series features reflective characters, and we can feel their thinking and emotions.
"My eight-year-old son William slept badly during the pandemic," said photographer Nicky Hamilton.
This inverted project records the surreal way of daily life in the pandemic. The upside down is a surreal look at my family being isolated during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"He was full of anxiety and he thought the end of the world would come. It was looking at this that I wanted to capture the history of my family's isolation."
After spending a few weeks with my 8-year-old son, William found it difficult to fall asleep alone, he was worried about the end of the world, without the day-to-day work of school, friends and entertainment, my hormonal teenager was disappointed and angry with us all, missing his girlfriend, playing football, and even "real" school jobs couldn't distract him. The sudden change between the two of them made me look at their world with a whole new perspective, a world I needed to portray. This is a true reflection of the surreal experiences we have experienced as a family.
In those uncertain days, Hamilton and his family spent some time in the studio
there he built detailed decorative design shooting plans, including models of the bathroom, kitchen and other rooms.
As an award-winning photographer. How can uniqueness be achieved and the originality of these unexpected photo narratives be achieved in a digital world filled with images?
creates works that make sense to you, and if they are original you will be scared and unsure how this idea will come true. The preliminary visualization of your idea can really help test it before you go too far, it can be as basic as a pencil sketch, or as profound as creating an idea with 3D software, grouping this preliminary visualization with lighting panels and other visual effects.
Prepare a map of future narrative tones, after that, if everything you prepare will bring you the same emotions, then you have found something special - then it's time to create!
