On December 16, 2019, the 4th China Duchang Poyang Lake Migratory Bird National Photography Exhibition was grandly opened in Duchang County Cultural and Sports Center Square.
This event is the fourth national photography exhibition with the theme of Poyang Lake migratory birds held in succession after Duchang County successfully held three national photography exhibitions (competitions) in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The event is co-organized by the Duchang County Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Duchang County People's Government, and China Photography Newspaper; hosted by the Propaganda Department of the Duchang County Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Duchang County Radio and Television Station, the Duchang County Forestry Bureau, and the Duchang County Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism Bureau; co-organized by the Jiangxi Photographers Association, Jiujiang Photographers Association, the Duchang County Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Duchang County Migratory Bird Protection Management Bureau, the Duchang County Photographers Association, and the Duchang Lake-related townships.

In December 2016, the first "China Duchang Poyang Lake Migratory Bird National Photography Exhibition" called "Pohu Station, Migratory Bird Paradise" was held in Duchang. The film exhibition is co-organized by China Photography News Agency and the Duchang County Committee of the Communist Party of China, and co-organized by Jiangxi Photographers Association and Jiujiang Photographers Association. The film exhibition has three categories: natural scenery, folk culture, ecological tourism, and economic and social construction in Duchang. 80 works were collected and the prize was 1,000 yuan. A total of 5,191 works were collected in this competition, and the list of works included in the exhibition was announced in July 2017.

In December 2017, the "Second China Duchang Poyang Lake Migratory Birds National Photography Exhibition" was held in Duchang. In addition to the Duchang County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the China Photography News Agency, the organizers also added the Duchang County Government. This film festival collects 100 works, with a bonus of 1,000 yuan. The film festival received a total of 3,992 works and announced the list of works included in November 2018.

In December 2018, the "Third China Duchang Poyang Lake Migratory Birds National Photography Competition" was held again. This time, the "big exhibition" was changed to a "big competition". China Photography News Agency (representing Chinese Photographers Association ) withdrew from the organizer, but was co-organized by the Duchang County Party Committee, Duchang County Government, Jiangxi Environmental Protection Propaganda and Education Center, Xinhuanet Jiangxi Channel, and Jiangxi Photographers Association. Although more than a dozen organizers listed by the organizers and co-organizers, the level of this photography exhibition has been reduced from national to provincial level, and the author has not found more information about the film exhibition.

The film exhibition has returned to the national competition level, and the organizers are China Photography Newspaper, Duchang County Party Committee, and Duchang County Government. The film festival collects 100 works and a bonus of 1,000 yuan. The film festival received a total of 3,238 works and announced the list of works included in November 2018.
Comparing the works of the fourth and second sessions, the author found that more than one author's works in the same series have won awards in both sessions. It is worrying to continue to develop like this.

In December 2020, the "Fifth China Duchang Poyang Lake Migratory Birds National Photography Exhibition" was held again. Compared with the last time, the organizer has added Jiangxi Radio and Television News Center. The themes, awards, etc. of the film festival are the same as the last time. The film festival received a total of 2,982 works and announced the list of works included in December 2021.

On December 13, 2021, the second Poyang Lake International Bird Watching Week (Duchang) Event and the launch ceremony of the 6th China (Duchang) Poyang Lake Migratory Bird National Photography Competition were held at the Duchang County Gymnasium in Jiujiang.The organizers of this competition are Duchang County Party Committee, County Government, and Jiangxi Photographers Association. The specifications of the film festival have been reduced to the provincial level again, and the author has not found a display of works at this film festival.

The winning works of the sixth film exhibition will be exhibited at the seventh opening ceremony. To this day, the author has not found news about the 2022 Film Festival online. To this end, the author specially consulted Mr. Song Xiaoyong, Chairman of Jiujiang Photographers Association, , and Chairman Song said that there is still a competition this year, but the specifications have been reduced to the county level. Perhaps due to the epidemic, the results of the competition have not yet been released.
In this way, it is no longer qualified to be named "National Photography Exhibition". Of course, there will not be much media reports on the county-level photography competition. The author is not sure about the reason for the decline of Duchang Photography Exhibition, and it is obvious that the epidemic is not the main cause.
Duchang County has one-third of the water area of Poyang Lake, and has a typical and complete inland lake and marsh wetland ecosystem. It is the county with the largest lake wetland area in Poyang Lake. The national photography exhibition held by Duchang has a great positive effect. The photography exhibition promoted Duchang's ecological civilization, created a good atmosphere of loving and protecting birds, and also increased Duchang's popularity as an ecological photography base. The author has seen the award-winning works of four film festivals, including many excellent works, especially several sets of photos from the first and second sessions, which are of great value for image recording. The photography exhibition is difficult to sustain after many years. The author thinks that there may be the following factors:
First, the theme of the photography exhibition is too scattered. It is called the Poyang Lake Migratory Bird Photography Competition, but it is actually the Duchang Propaganda Exhibition. Among the award-winning works, ecological photography accounts for less than half, and more are local economic construction, folk customs, natural scenery, etc. From the perspective of participation, local and surrounding photographers have too much advantage, which makes the national competition unworthy.

Secondly, the theme is too directed. The purpose of the competition is to promote Duchang, which has resulted in the restriction of the competition theme. In addition to ecological photography, participants can only write articles on folk customs, intangible cultural heritage, economic development, beautiful countryside, etc., and cannot touch the realistic and modernist styles. As a result, it is difficult to have new ideas after several competitions, and the similarity of works is getting higher and higher.
Within the limited creative scope, the Duchang Photography Exhibition can only reach this point.
