George Holz was born in Oak Ridge , Tennessee in 1956, and graduated in 1980 from the Art Center School of Design in Pasadena, California. He was an apprentice for Helmut Newton during his college years and believed that his mentorship and mentorship deeply influenced his career. As a young photographer, Holz lives in Milan and Paris, where he shoots beauty and fashion for major European magazines such as Lei, Linea Italiana, L'Officiel, Vogue Italia and French Elle. He moved to New York City and set up his legendary studio on Lafayette Street for Mademoiselle, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Elizabeth Arden and Nike. He filmed some of the most well-known and iconic movie posters and album covers, including a standoff with John Travolta and Nicholas Cage , and Madonna’s edge line.

Holz's artistic nudes and portraits have been exhibited in renowned galleries and museums around the world, and his photos are part of many private collections. His Grammys and creo awards highlight many well-known industry recognitions.

His monograph Holz Hollywood: 30 Years Portrait, a virtual who’s who’s in the fields of film, music, television, sports and politics that spans three decades. Angelina Jolie , Jack Nicholson , Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Maria Carey , Serena and Venus Williams and Javier Baden are just a small part of the characters in the book.

Holz teaches international lectures in museums and universities, teaches seminars and mentors young photographers. He traveled extensively for business and personal work, shooting advertising campaigns, iconic album covers, movie posters and editorial close-ups, and his fine art photos.
