The finalists and winners of the Royal Meteorological Society of the United Kingdom 2022 Weather Photographer Selection were announced. This competition received a total of 22 shortlisted works by photographers from 119 countries and regions.

Lightning is a sudden electrostatic discharge in the atmosphere, appearing in the form of "sparks" or "flash". The current can be discharged between clouds, from clouds to air, or from clouds to ground. Lightning is associated with thunderstorm clouds (also known as cumulonimbus clouds ), which can usually form within an hour.
Inside the cumulonimbus cloud, particles of rain, snow or ice move up and down, colliding and causing charge imbalance.As shown, cloud-to-ground lightning occurs when the negative charge channel bends downward in a "fork shape". This is usually invisible to the naked eye and spreads to the ground within a millisecond. When it approaches the ground, it attracts positive charges that extend from tall buildings, trees or telephone poles. When the two are connected, the powerful current returns to the clouds at about 60,000 miles per second, creating a very bright, visible lightning.

White frost is the most common type of frost, which occurs on a clear winter night, when the surface temperature is below 0ºC and there is enough moisture in the air to form frost. White frost consists of tiny ice particles formed in the same process as dew, but when the surface temperature is below freezing point.
When the local surface temperature drops below freezing point before dew begins to form, various "feather-like" white frosts will form. When water vapor suspended in the air freezes when it freezes when it comes into contact with the surface, ice crystals begin to form—a process known as deposition. The "white" frost composed of more spherical ice forms when the surface first forms dew and the temperature drops below 0ºC.
