Previously, when Nvidia's Ada Lovelace architecture graphics card was released, a large number of media and users had complaints about the RTX 4080 12GB version, but no one would have thought that Nvidia would make up for this "mistake" in this way.
Nvidia announced in a short message published on its official website in the early morning of this morning that it had “cancel” the launch of the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB graphics card. Since the RTX 4080 12GB version does not use the same GPU as the 16GB version and is only equipped with 192bit wide video memory, Nvidia seems to realize that it is inappropriate to be called "RTX 4080". Nvidia said, "The RTX 4080 12GB is a very good graphics card, but it's not named. It's confusing to have two GPUs. So we pressed the Cancel button for the 4080 12GB. The RTX 4080 16GB is amazing and is expected to surprise players everywhere on November 16."
It's still unclear how Nvidia plans to plan the subsequent product line, but renaming the product to a lower line is obviously the most feasible option. At the same time, we don’t understand what impact this change will have on Nvidia’s board manufacturers. Perhaps in the future, we may buy graphics cards covered with “RTX 4080 12GB” under the outer packaging sticker. Nvidia is deleting the promotional copy and text of the RTX 4080 12GB that was previously released on various channels, which is in sharp contrast to the previous strong confidence in the RTX 4080 12GB version.
