Chongqing Voice October 10th Chongqing Mobile announced today that the first unmanned airship equipped with the 5G base station has been successfully tested. This is a joint development of China Mobile Chongqing Company (hereinafter referred to as " Chongqing Mobile ") and Shanghai Jiaotong University Chongqing Near Space Innovation and Development Center, an integrated air-ground 5G emergency support system based on airship aerial vehicle.
This system takes advantage of the characteristics of the airship floating device that "long-term airtime, no noise, low energy consumption, and large load capacity". Through the airship , it is equipped with 5G base station communication equipment, emergency support equipment, environmental monitoring equipment, etc., and links the two major platforms of airship and ground to realize four emergency support functions: communication support, environmental monitoring, high-definition cloud view, and emergency rescue.

It is filled with inert gas helium , which is highly polluted and safe. The stationary time can reach more than 7 days, which is far higher than the average drone’s stationary time of about 3 hours.
According to Fang Dongxu, senior expert of Chongqing Mobile, "The airship can be deployed in half an hour to air. Under the influence of extreme weather such as strong winds and heavy rains, it can quickly build a communication guarantee network between the disaster area and the outside world. With the help of high-altitude advantages, it is equipped with air quality detection , meteorological monitoring equipment and other detection devices, which can monitor the large-scale meteorological environment, water quality and forest fires in the disaster area. Through the 360° high-definition video camera equipment assembled on the airship, All-weather video data monitoring, relying on 5G enhancement technology, high-definition pictures and videos of front-line situations can be continuously transmitted back to the back-end rescue department in a timely manner. In addition, the airship is equipped with amplification, lighting, and high-definition infrared equipment, which can play an important role in outdoor search and rescue scenarios such as night, heavy fog, forests, etc.."
It is understood that this system is not only suitable for emergency rescue, but also provides more application support for multiple scenarios such as temporary communication guarantee, large-scale outdoor monitoring guarantee, forest protection, smart agriculture, emergency transportation, etc. In the next step, Chongqing Mobile will continue to innovate technologically, cooperate in deep collaboration with universities, jointly develop portable integrated airships, promote the implementation of integrated sky and earth rescue communication technology, and continuously expand the ecological application scenarios of 5G communication guarantee.
