Yesterday, this site reported that after adding the Microsoft account on Windows 11, users may be blocked from logging in. Microsoft acknowledged the issue was caused by the optional update KB5016691 (released on August 25), but the issue has been quickly resolved and provides some details.

Microsoft stated: "After installing KB5016691 in Windows and adding a new Microsoft account user, you may not be able to log in for a short time after the first restart or log out. This issue only affects newly added Microsoftml2 account users and is only applicable Log in for the first time”.

According to Microsoft, users will be temporarily locked after the first restart or logout. This problem occurs only once on devices using a Microsoft account and has a shorter impact. Active Directory domain users and Azure Active Directory accounts are not affected by this problem. Additionally, it only occurs on systems running the Windows 11 21H2 client version.

To finally end it, Microsoft announced that it will release a known issue rollback, which should change back to the flawed Windows fix that was launched earlier. It won’t be longer than 24 hours, which means issues with affected consumers and unmanaged business devices should be resolved by the weekend. Microsoft also recommends restarting your machine to help solve the solutions that are being pushed now.
