Apple officially issued an invitation letter yesterday, announcing that it will hold an autumn conference at 1 am on September 8th, Beijing time.
The theme of this Apple invitation is "Far out", with space as the background, which is said to hint at several major functions that the iPhone 14 may have: satellite connection, astrophotography and breath-taking display.
First of all, the satellite communication function allows users to send short messages directly to emergency contacts through the satellite network without the need for an operator. In areas without 4G/5G signal coverage, users can stay online with the help of satellite services.
This function will help users contact first responders in emergencies such as network outages after disasters and plane crashes.
However, based on the iPhone’s antenna size, power and shape design, “EE Times China” also pointed out that at present, it is unlikely that the iPhone will achieve true satellite communication functions.
Secondly, the invitation was also reported to hint at the long-rumored astrophotography feature. Previously, it was reported that the iPhone 14 Pro will use a 48-megapixel camera, which may be preparation for this.
Finally, the dark and empty invitation background is also reported to be a hint that the iPhone 14 Pro series will be equipped with a new always-on display for the first time.
However, some readers in the Aifaner comment area yesterday pointed out that this invitation may also imply that this conference will be related to Apple’s VR/AR headset. In May of this year, Bloomberg reported that Apple had demonstrated its AR/VR headset products to its board members.
