Recently, Microsoft Open sourced a new set of font Cascadia Code.

Cascadia Code was released at Microsoft's Build event in May this year. It is a monospace font newly launched by Microsoft, designed to provide a brand new experience for the command line experience and code editor. The Cascadia code was developed together with the new Windows Terminal. It is officially recommended to use this font for terminal applications and text editors, such as Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code.

Cascadia code supports programming ligatures! Programming ligatures are most useful when writing code because they create new glyphs by combining characters. This helps make the code more readable and more user-friendly.

Note: If you are using VS Code, you must enable the ligature function in the settings. Take effect.

Why is it named Cascadia Code?

The name of Cascadia Code comes from the Windows Terminal project. Before it was released, the code name of Windows Terminal was Cascadia. In fact, some source files of Windows Terminal still use this name. In order to show respect to Terminal, we like Use its code name to name the font.

We add "Code" to the end of the font name to indicate that this font is used for programming, to be precise to highlight its programming ligature characteristics.
