During the years of the Ming Dynasty, there was a family named Gao in Hangzhou. The couple was very loving, but they just hoped to have a son.
One night, my wife dreamed that an old monk came into the house with a green lotus, and touched her belly with the green lotus. She became pregnant not long after, and at the end of ten months, she gave birth to a son. He cried loudly, was white, fat and strong, and named him Yulang. The couple regarded it as a treasure.
This Yulang is strange to say. After weaning at the age of two, he only likes to eat vegetarian food and does not like to eat meat. Moreover, when he was three years old, he became frail and sickly. After getting acne and rash, he became a fat baby and lost his appearance.
My mother was very worried. She sought medical advice all day long, but she felt that it was of little use, especially because some unscrupulous fortune tellers claimed to have life-saving solutions. They spent a lot of money, but the results were all lies.
One day, a Taoist priest with a celestial spirit came to the Gao family. After seeing Yulang's face, he first sighed that he was blessed with good fortune, and then shook his head, which made Yulang's mother very anxious.
The Taoist said: This boy has wonderful bones and is destined to be a Buddha. The further away from home, the better! From this point of view, the boy's life is safe, but there will be a disaster when he becomes an adult. Whether he can avoid it depends on his luck.
Yulang’s mother wanted to ask again, but the Taoist left behind a sentence: “The secret of heaven must not be leaked” and then left!

At first, Yulang's parents didn't really believe the Taoist's words. However, seeing that Yulang's illness became worse day by day, they had no choice but to treat Yulang as a living doctor, so they fostered Yulang in Fushou Temple, a hundred miles away from home.
When Yulang was five or six years old, his parents wanted to take him home, but seeing that Yulang still looked sick, they became cruel and gave him to the monk Qingfeng in the temple as a disciple.
Strangely enough, after becoming a disciple of Buddhism, Yulang's health got better day by day. Master Kongxiang liked Yulang very much, so he took him into his room. When he was ten years old, he began to teach him to chant sutras and play the music . Yulang was very smart and could master it as soon as he learned it.
Master regarded Yulang as a treasure and never left him. If anyone dared to bully him, Master would beat him hard without mercy. Yulang is also very sensible. He flatters his master all day long and smiles. He usually studies the classics carefully with his master. Within two years, he seems to have been reborn and has become a little monk that everyone loves.
When Yulang was thirteen years old, his master Kongxiang suffered from a deficiency syndrome. Seeing that a beautiful disciple was about to grow up, he was unable to bear it and felt anxious.
Before his death, Kong Xiang handed over all the mantles and mantles to his apprentice Qingfeng, and then secretly gave Yulang 100 taels of silver, saying: I wanted to take care of you for a few more years, but my body didn't allow it, so you are not lucky; I have raised you for so many years, and I have not made any money, and I am also not lucky.
Then he said to Qingfeng: All my mantles are given to you. Just this monk's room and the things in it are given to this young disciple to practice in it. The name of the Dharma is called colorless! After finished speaking, he held his breath.
Yulang thanked his master for his kindness and cried bitterly.
Qingfeng was a good wine monk and didn't care much about money and materials, so he followed his master's orders and gave the house to Yulang. Yulang tidied the inside, and An Xin chanted sutras and chanted Buddha's name inside to save his master.
Let’s talk about Yulang’s fair and handsome appearance. Because he had the protection of his master, no senior brother dared to come and treat him lightly.
But things were different after the death of the master. There were always those unclean senior brothers who came to pester him and wanted to do the things he wanted to do with him.
Yulang had experienced all this and refused to obey, but those people didn't believe it, saying that the master was similar to him, so it was impossible that he had not done something scandalous, but Yulang really didn't, so he offended those senior brothers, and they kept finding trouble to deal with him every now and then.
Yulang had no other choice, so he came up with a plan. He wanted to sit in prison for three years to avoid being harassed by evil people. After hearing this, Master also supported him very much and blocked for him.
Yulang carefully studied the scriptures in the pass and made great progress. The pilgrims who came and burned incense saw that he was so young but willing to sit in the pass, and they all came to give him alms.
After three years of retreat, Yulang only kept the 100 taels of silver given by his master, and gave the rest to the master, saying: Master, I want to go to Nanjing to print various Buddhist scriptures, and then take them back to the temple for sharing.
After Qingfeng agreed, Yulang packed up his things and went out. The master instructed: You are still young and have never traveled far. There is a deaf-mute Taoist who makes fires in the temple. Let him accompany you!
Yulang said: One bowl and one hat is the norm for monks, why do they need to be served? So he went to Nanjing.
Unfortunately, the temples in Nanjing were prohibited from accepting wandering monks by their superiors, so Yulang had nowhere to turn, so he had to borrow a house from the family of Sun Er, who printed scriptures.
One day, Sun Er arranged a vegetarian meal for Yulang. During the dinner, Yulang asked about the printing costs of various scriptures. Because Yu Lang had no skills in bargaining with others, he exposed his base.
When Sun Er saw that Yulang had a hundred taels, he had evil thoughts and thought: The opportunity to make a fortune has come. He didn't expect that a young monk would bring so much money with him. It would be better to trick him into getting his money. Anyway, the money was obtained through begging.
At night, Sun Er said to his wife Wang: "The young monk who came to our house to print scriptures brought more than one hundred taels of silver with him. I think he is alone and has no experience in life. How about getting this money?"
When Mrs. Wang heard this, she was a little moved and said: When he went out, we pried open the door and stole the money. We only said that it was stolen by a thief.
Sun Er said: This is inappropriate! Money was stolen from our house, and it would be difficult to explain if it were to be traced. I don't think this little monk is a clean guy. Why don't you seduce him, and then I'll catch him and defraud him of his money. I don't expect him to have anything to say at that time.
When Mrs. Wang heard this, she cursed: You are a damn bastard. You want to make money from others, but you want me to sacrifice your appearance to seduce the monk.
Sun Er said: I didn’t really let you sleep with him. As long as you make him angry and let him do something to you, I will take the opportunity to come out and punish him for his romantic sin and beat him! If he wants to escape, he will naturally pay for his crime with money. Isn't it perfect?
When Wang heard this, she realized that this method was feasible, and she also liked the young monk. The two discussed some details, and they became so excited that they didn't need to mention it when doing things.

Early the next morning, saw Yulang not coming out of the room, so Wang brought breakfast into the room and went to flirt with Yulang.
Yulang neither raised his head nor responded, letting her pretend to be coquettish in front of him. Mrs. Wang said: Little Master, why do you sit in the house every day? Since you are here in Nanjing, you should go to those places of interest.
Yulang said: I don’t know him.
Wang Shi smiled charmingly and said: Then you should recognize it carefully, so as not to walk into the fireworks willow alley. After saying that, he winked and left.
At noon, Mrs. Wang sent another meal and said: Little Master, my husband has to go out to do business every day. I am the only one at home during the day. If you need anything, just go in and get it yourself. In our little people's homes, there is no distinction between inside and outside.
Yulang said: Thank you female Bodhisattva, the young monk has no other needs except three meals.
In the afternoon, Mrs. Wang pretended to deliver tea again and asked: "Little Master, how old are you?"
Yulang said: I just turned eighteen.
Wang said: What a young and handsome master. I heard that when you become monks, your masters and disciples act like your parents-in-law. Is this true?
Yulang said: There is no such thing. Female Bodhisattva, please come back. It is not good for others to see you.
Wang said: You, little master, are really disrespectful! When the master here sees a beautiful woman, he beams and jumps up and down. He is so ignorant like you!
Yulang blushed after hearing this and just kept flipping through the book. Seeing that he was indifferent, Mrs. Wang had no choice but to slam the door and go out.
One day later, Sun Er asked his wife: How did things go? Don't be greedy for his youth and handsomeness, and you will really fall in love with him.
Wang was furious and said: What nonsense are you talking about! This little monk is so serious, I have nowhere to start!
Sun Er said: What should I do if I can’t hook up? I think he has been staying at my house for a few days, and outsiders don't know he is here. Since he is so ignorant and doesn't want to eat the delicious food he gets, why not cook him!
Wang didn’t dare at first, but couldn’t stand Sun Er’s persuasion, and finally the two of them decided on a plan.
Two days later, it happened to be the fifth day of May. Yulang read the sutra for a long time and went to bed early.
Sun Er and his wife drank some wine. At the second watch, they heard snoring coming from Yulang's house.
The two of them opened the door quietly. Sun Er made a noose with a rope and put it around Yulang's neck. The couple pulled hard, and Yulang kicked his legs a few times on the bed and died.
Sun Er and his wife kept pulling for a long time before they dared to let go. They saw Yulang's tongue sticking out and his eyes popping out, and his whole body stood straight.
Sun Er quickly went to get a hoe, dug a three-foot-deep hole under the small bed, buried Yulang's body in it, and then piled some jars and jars on top, and then he felt relieved.
Then they went through Yulang's luggage and found one hundred taels of silver. The couple danced with joy.
After some time, Wang became pregnant, and nearly ten months passed quickly.
One night, I heard Sun Er having a nightmare and exclaimed: There is a ghost, there is a ghost!
Wang woke him up quickly and saw Sun Er saying: I dreamed that the little monk, with his face covered in blood, kept running into our house, so I was afraid.
After all, the Wang family is a woman's family, and she was very scared after hearing this. After a while, she felt some pain in her stomach. Seeing that she was about to give birth, Sun Er hurriedly went to see Wen Po , and soon a boy was born.
After Po Wen left, Sun Er picked up the child and looked at it. He was shocked. It turned out that the child's nose and eyes looked very much like Monk Yulang. Sun Er had something in his heart, so he discussed with his wife and wanted to drown his son.
Wang said: We already killed him that day, and if we drown him again now, we will owe him two lives. After all, this is the meat that fell from my body. It is better to raise him and pass on all the family property I have saved to him, which can be regarded as repaying this sinful debt!
In other words, Never do something bad, as long as you do it, retribution will come sooner or later, just sooner or later.
When Sun Er heard this, he felt guilty, so he agreed, and the couple took good care of him.
Strange to say, maybe this child is really the reincarnation of Yulang. When he sees Buddhist scriptures, he will rush to grab them. When he sees the box and cage Yulang used back then, he will rush to look at them.
When Sun Er and his wife saw this, they knew that this child was an enemy, but they had no choice but to watch him grow up day by day.
Sun Er no longer took care of him, but took Meixia's money to start a business.
And Yulang was also strange. He never suffered any illness from childhood to adulthood. When he was seven years old, he went to school. Sun Er named him Sun Yu.
Sun Yu is very smart and has almost a photographic memory. Not only is he handsome, but he is also gentle and elegant. His teachers and classmates like him very much.
But I don’t know why, Sun Yu is like this outside. As soon as he enters the house, he immediately changes his face. He becomes inexplicably irritable. He doesn’t call Sun Er father, nor does he call Wang family mother. When he speaks, he calls him "old turtle" and "old whore". Sun Er is so angry that he beats him several times.
But the more he beat Sun Yu, the more violent he became. He even picked up a knife and threatened his parents: If you hit me again, I will kill you two old robbers!
When Sun Er and his wife saw this, they were helpless and tried not to provoke him.
(3)
When the neighbor next door saw Sun Er’s house being beaten and killed all day long, he came over to persuade him: Old Sun, tigers are poisonous and cannot eat their seeds. You can’t beat such a small child harshly! If a child has no rules, it is because of his parents. You have spoiled him since he was a child. This is not a bad thing for the child. Fortunately, the child is still young and has already gone to school. When he is older and has a teacher to discipline him, he will hopefully get better.
Wang said: He was fine when I was a kid, but now I don’t know what’s going on. As soon as I get home, he feels like he’s been shot. Maybe this is the fate of our old couple!
As he grew older, Sun Yu not only did not get better, but became more cruel every day. He often pointed a knife at his parents and cursed: I must chop you two "old beasts" and "old prostitutes" to death.
Sun Er had no choice but to go to the school to ask the teacher for help. The teacher also told Sun Yu several times, but the more he talked about him, the more he became more and more angry, and Sun Er and his wife were scared that they never dared to go to the teacher again.
There was an old lady next door who had watched Sun Yu grow up. She advised Sun Yu with sincere words:
Child, it is not easy for your parents to give birth to you and raise you. Not to mention that it is hard to conceive in ten months. Even when is giving birth, is also a life-and-death struggle. You said they pooped and pissed you until you were big, held it in your hands for fear of falling, held it in your mouth for fear of melting, were afraid of freezing you if it got cold, and were afraid of starving you if you cried. I saw all of this.
You are a primary school student, you must learn well, and you can’t do this again.
Sun Yu is definitely a good boy outside. After listening to the old lady's advice, he said: Grandma, I understand the truth, but I don't know why. When I saw the two of them, I felt a surge of unknown anger and couldn't control myself at all.
The old lady didn’t understand and said: There are no unfilial parents, only unfilial children. As the saying goes, a mother has worked hard for three years to nurse, but she has been blessed by her mother for ten months of pregnancy. If you don’t honor your parents, who else should you honor?
Sun Yu was heartbroken when she heard it, but as soon as she returned home, she seemed like a different person again.
After another five or six years, Sun Yu's temper was not restrained at all, and Sun Er and his wife had no idea how much they were feeling cowardly.
On this day, Sun Yu came back from an outing and saw that the food at home was cold, so she began to scold her mother Wang again.
Wang was so angry that she wanted to come up and hit him, but she was pushed down by Sun Yu instead. Wang got up and wanted to scratch him, but he punched him again and knocked him to the ground.
At this time, Sun Er was chatting with people at the door. When he heard a dispute in the house, he picked up a stick and entered the house. Seeing that the situation was not good, Sun Yu rushed out of the door and saw Sun Er running out of the house holding the stick.
Everyone asked: What are you doing?
Sun Er said: Neighbors everywhere, help me catch this unfilial thief!
Sun Yu originally wanted to run away, but when he heard this, he stopped and asked: Do you think I am a thief? I won’t run away today!
Mrs. Wang also burst out crying at this time and said:
I have raised him for more than ten years. I don’t know how much effort and hardship I have put in, but he beats and scolds me, and points a knife at our husband and wife from time to time. He actually hit me hard at home just now! Neighbors came to comment. Have you ever seen a son beating and scolding his parents like this?
Sun Er said: I have to kill this beast today, so I’ll treat him as if I’ve raised him for nothing!
When Sun Yu heard this, he also picked up two big rocks from the ground and cursed: You still want to beat me to death! Today I will send you two old robbers on their way first!
At this time, when the neighbors saw that the conflict was about to intensify, they hurriedly came up to try to persuade Sun Yu, saying:
Don't be impulsive. Disobedience to your parents has been a serious crime since ancient times. Now you listen to us, make amends and apologize to your parents, write off what happened today, and you won’t be able to do it again in the future.
Sun Yu was unconvinced and said: You want me to kowtow to these two old beasts? impossible! Either they die today or I die! If you don't kill today, you will kill tomorrow. This matter is not over!
Everyone was furious when they saw Sun Yu being so rude. One of the neighbors said: I was pity that the child was young and didn't want to deal with him. Since he's so unimproved, I think it's better to send him to an official and let the county magistrate discipline him, so as not to cause any real trouble in the future.
Sun Yu did not show weakness, and would rather see the official than submit to weakness. The others didn't have any good ideas. Since they couldn't continue in such a stalemate, they rushed forward and sent Sun Yu to the government.

The magistrate is an upright official who is said to be able to communicate with yin and yang.
The county magistrate had a dream last night. He dreamed that an old Taoist asked him in his dream, saying: If someone comes to complain tomorrow, you can ask him about the fifth day of May. You must not let the two lives be wronged.
The magistrate woke up and wondered alone. The next day, no one came to report the crime. Towards the afternoon, a group of people came to the Yamen with Sun Yu in their arms.
The county magistrate went to court and asked what happened.
One of the fast-talking neighbors told the story of the dispute between Sun Yu and his son, and now wanted to accuse Sun Yu of disobedience.
The magistrate asked Sun Er: Which son is this yours?
Sun Er replied: The villain only has this one son.
The magistrate said: If he is really disobedient, I will punish him on the spot. But if your son dies, who will provide for you in old age?
Sun Er said: I just ask the master to punish him, and hope that he will realize his mistakes and correct them.
The magistrate called Sun Yu to the front of the hall again, and saw a handsome young man. If his parents hadn't come to complain, he couldn't believe that Sun Yu would do such a thing, so he asked: Sun Yu, your parents only have a son, and it is proper to be filial. Why are you so disobedient to your parents?
Sun Yu said: Master, although I am young, I am also a knowledgeable and reasonable person. I don’t know why, but whenever I see the two of them, I get very angry.
After hearing what he said, the magistrate looked at the faces of the three of them and said: It seems like this is not your son, but an enemy! Is this kid a teenager?
Wang said: Exactly fourteen years old!
The magistrate said: Then think carefully about what happened fourteen years ago. This may be tit for tat!
At this time, Mrs. Wang was a little panicked, her face turned pale, the magistrate had been observing her, and suddenly shouted: Please call me truthfully!
This shout made everyone stunned, thinking: How can this master be so confused? He did not try his son for the crime of disobedience, but instead made things difficult for his parents!
The magistrate said to Mr. and Mrs. Wang: You don’t have to be secretive. God had entrusted it to me in a dream last night. Hurry up and get it from reality.
Mrs. Wang looked at her husband with her eyes, and Sun Er was also stunned at this time. The magistrate said again: What happened on the fifth day of May?
Wang and his wife thought that the magistrate was deceiving them, but when they heard this sentence, they collapsed instantly and kowtowed quickly: God makes the decision, this matter has nothing to do with the daughter, it is all the husband’s decision.
The county magistrate did not find it difficult for her, so he asked Sun Er: Your wife has already accused you of being the mastermind on the fifth day of May. If you don't tell the truth, she will be punished.
Sun Er saw that he could not hide anything, so he had to reveal what happened fourteen years ago one by one. He said that for one hundred taels of silver, on the night of the fifth day of May, he hanged a young monk whose name was Colorless.
The magistrate asked: Where are his bones buried?
Sun Er said: The bones were buried under the small bed in the guest room. The magistrate quickly sent someone to check.
The county magistrate asked again: When was Sun Yu born?
Sun Er said: The fifth day of May in the second year.
The magistrate said: According to this, Sun Yu is the reincarnation of the colorless little monk. So he said to Sun Yu: You committed the crime of disobedience and should have been beaten to death in court, but there was a reason. How about I let you go today?
Sun Yu said: I will listen to the master and if allowed, let me become a monk!
After hearing this, the county magistrate said: Forget it, I will give you all the property of Sun Er's family, and I will use it as your inheritance!
At this time, Sun Yu kowtowed and said: There are too many villains, so I don’t need it. I only want the one hundred taels of silver that my master left me, and the rest I hope that I will reward my mother Wang in return for her more than ten years of nurturing.
The county magistrate saw that he was reasonable, and the neighbors also admired him. Everyone said: It turned out that Sun Er was seeking wealth and killing people, and Sun Yu was the reincarnation of a monk and came to seek revenge. Fortunately, the county magistrate is a god. If he was killed in his previous life and killed again in this life, it would be a great injustice.
At this moment, the government officials came to report and found a set of bones from Sun Er's home.
There was nothing left to investigate. The county magistrate convicted Sun Er of seeking wealth and murder. After his superiors approved, he would be executed in the autumn. Then according to Sun Yu's request, Sun Er's family property was redistributed.
The magistrate said to Wang: Although you are not the mastermind, you can avoid the death penalty, but you cannot escape the living crime. I hope you will save Sun Yu's life when you give birth, so I will slap you twenty times today. Go back and reflect!
Mrs. Wang quickly thanked her and was helped home by her neighbor after the beating.
After returning home, Wang found all Yulang's boxes, clothes, scriptures, etc., and returned them to Sun Yu.
Sun Yu didn't say much. After kowtowing to his mother for a few years, he found a temple in Nanjing and became ordained, still taking the Dharma name Colorless.
Sun Yu put on the monk's robes of the colorless monk and came to thank the magistrate.
The magistrate said: You can be reborn without forgetting your past life. This is also a great spiritual thing. I hope you can work hard and achieve positive results in the future.
After that, Yulang used the money to print Buddhist scriptures and concentrated on preaching the scriptures. Because his wisdom roots were still there, he was very famous in the local area at a young age. Many wealthy gentry families were surprised when they heard about Yulang's past and present life, and many people came to give alms to pay homage to him.
After two years, Yulang packed his luggage, took the Buddhist scriptures, and returned to Fushou Temple.
Arriving at the temple gate, Sun Yu saw a scene of decline. Seeing a young novice sweeping the floor at the door, he asked: There is a colorless monk in the temple. Have you heard of it?
The young novice replied: I have never heard of it.
At this time, an old monk walked out of the house. After hearing about this, he said: There was indeed a colorless monk in our temple, who was the disciple of Master Kongxiang and the disciple of Abbot Qingfeng.
He went to Nanjing with money to print Buddhist scriptures more than ten years ago. He has never come back. I don’t know if he became a monk elsewhere or returned to secular life somewhere! Now the monk's room is still reserved for him!
Sun Yu asked again: Is Master Qingfeng still alive?
The monk replied: Master drinks all day long and ignores business, otherwise the temple would not be so deserted.
After hearing this, Sun Yu hurriedly went to the room to find Master Qingfeng, but the monk didn't stop him. Sun Yu entered Qingfeng's monk's room and saw Qingfeng drunkenly.
Sun Yu introduced herself to her family, which shocked Qingfeng and said: Monks don’t lie, but you can’t lie!
Qingfeng said: I am indeed your reborn disciple. So I showed all the previous things to Qingfeng. After Qingfeng looked at it, he said: It is indeed, it is indeed!
Sun Yu then told Qingfeng about his experiences in the past ten years, which shocked Qingfeng.
At this time, Qingfengjiu was half awake and quickly took him to the monk's room to check, and saw that the iron lock on the door was already rusty.
After Sun Yu went in, he tidied up, paid homage to his master, and stayed inside.
A few days later, Sun Yu carefully repaired the temple with the money he brought back from Nanjing.
Sun Yu’s story must have been explosive news in the local area. It spread quickly in the local area. People were surprised and came to the temple to see him one after another. They all treated him as an enlightened monk. Yulang lectured in the temple every day.
At that time, Yulang's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gao, were still alive. They heard that their son had come back from the dead and came to meet Sun Yu. They thought it was incredible that he was a reborn son.
Later, Sun Yu devoted himself to Buddhism and specialized in Buddhism. He lived until the age of eighty-eight, and finally passed away in the temple.
Therefore, don’t have greed or evil thoughts in everything. There is a god with your head above your head. If you go out to hang out, sooner or later you will pay it back!
