In the face of the epidemic, two thought-provoking stories
1
Qing Dynasty Shunzhi In March of the Jiawu Year, there lived a man named Gu Cheng in Jinling, and his daughter-in-law's surname was Qian. Once when Qian's returned to her parents' home in a neighboring village, a plague broke out in Gu Cheng's village. There were contagions everywhere, and even relatives did not dare to pass by or visit.
Unfortunately, Gu Cheng and his wife also contracted the plague. Soon, eight other people in the family, including their sons and daughter-in-law, also became ill one after another. They were bedridden all day and were dying.
After Qian learned that her parents-in-law and others were suffering from the epidemic, she hurried back to her husband's house to take care of them. However, Qian's parents tried their best to dissuade her from going back for her safety.
Mrs. Qian said: "When my husband married me, the Gu family, old and young, were all kind to me. Of course they also hope that I can take care of my elderly parents-in-law. Now that something like this happened, how could I ignore them? If I knew they were critically ill but could not bear to return, what is the difference between me and an animal? I must go back to take care of them. Even if I die, there is nothing to regret." She then rushed back.
As soon as she arrived home, Qian heard a voice: "The gods are protecting this filial wife Qian, let's get out of here quickly!" Not long after, Gu Cheng's family all recovered, and Qian's virtuous deeds became a good story among the locals.
Liu Kui, a Ming doctor in the Qing Dynasty, commented in his book "Songfeng Talks about Epidemics":
Evil does not invade the good, and filial piety can uphold heaven. It is truly a good way to eliminate epidemics!

There was a royal chef who retired and returned to his hometown, rich and famous. Having nothing to do all day long, I couldn't bear the idleness, so I hired a group of smart and capable people and opened a tavern. Because they all belong to the village, the pub has gradually become a place for everyone to hang out and reminisce about the past. They go to the pub to sit down, treat guests and meet friends, and it is very lively.
Later, there was a big plague in the county government area to which the town belonged, and it was only a hundred miles away from the capital. The imperial court sent a special medical team to treat him, but for a long time the source of the disease could not be found, and many medicines were used but they were not suitable. The epidemic is getting worse and worse. Seeing people dying one after another, everyone is frightened and panicked. Even the richest people can't buy medicine because they don't know what medicine can cure it.
This time it was hard to harm the officials at all levels in the palace, and frightened the dignitaries inside and outside the palace. Nothing in the world is more important than life. Glory, wealth, fame and wealth are worthless in an instant. The key is to be able to save one's life. But when people looked at the person who was fine just now, he fell to the ground and died as soon as he turned around. In the numbness of fear, they all lamented that life is impermanent, like an illusion, like a dream.
When the old imperial chef saw this scene, he closed the tavern early, cut off contact with the outside world, and hid in the mansion all day long. Although the house was tightly sealed by him, the disease still reached the imperial kitchen through the copper and iron walls. He began to lose strength, often twitched, felt dizzy, and had blood in his stools and vomited.
Yu Chu felt that his time was running out, so he climbed up to the high-rise building of his house and looked at the city's interior and exterior, as well as the houses far and near. The once bustling and bustling streets have long been deserted. Those homeless people were seriously ill and died after taking only a few steps. Their slumped bodies were displayed on the street.
The imperial chef looked at it, suddenly filled with sadness and pity. She shed tears and sighed: "Alas, where is the fame? I think that my generation of royal chefs is famous all over the world, but they can't withstand the epidemic. Who can protect me when good times and bad things happen?"
The Royal Chef thought After thinking about it, I am a person who is about to die anyway, so what is the use of keeping these gold and silver and a warehouse full of clothes and food? It is better to give them to those lonely and poor families, let them eat well and wear clothes that cover their bodies, so that they will not live in vain. So that they who are unfortunate enough to be infected can go see their ancestors with dignity, it is better to give them up.
When people can use their true thoughts, it is so precious. Thinking this way, the imperial chef's fear and timidity about the epidemic disappeared. A sense of great righteousness filled my heart, and I felt that my body also had strength. Then he made a decision: he opened the door of the tavern and ordered the brave people to cook porridge and soup every day to give to the poor. He also ordered the servants to take out the stored clothes and give them to those who were half-clothed. For those bodies that were exposed to cold and dampness, they were also sent to prepare and bury them.
Many wealthy families saw what Yu Chu did and imitated him one after another. It's just death anyway, so it might as well be a more meaningful death. Everyone's fear of the epidemic gradually disappeared, and the deserted streets gradually became alive.
Later, the streets and alleys were full of human touch, full of attention, full of comfort, and the city was full of gentle words. There were no more fights, no more bullies, and even the prostitutes had respect for themselves. A month later, the chef was surprised to find that his body gradually recovered, and even his complexion returned to its previous rosy color.
One day, while the imperial chef was sleeping, he saw a Taoist man riding a crane flying towards him. When he flew to his side, he sang a verse:
A great virtue can transform into a thousand gold prescription,
How to use herbal soup to save the world?
Tianwai Xuan Gong Jindan is made,
Guan Ru De can save malaria.
"Hurry up and take the elixir!" In his dream, the imperial chef heard the immortal say to him, so he quickly took it with both hands and woke up suddenly. He suddenly saw that there was really a box of elixir in his hand. The imperial chef couldn't help but be overjoyed and bowed again and again towards the direction in which the Taoist was flying.
The next day, the imperial chef melted some of the elixirs in several large pots according to the instructions in the elixir box, and gave them to patients inside and outside the radius one by one. The effect was really miraculous, and the patients recovered instantly.
The imperial chef personally delivered the elixir to the palace in the capital. The epidemic that had been raging for several months was completely resolved by the imperial chef's improvement in virtue. After the emperor heard about the origin of the elixir, he took a bath, changed clothes, and stayed alone in a quiet room to repent and think about his mistakes. Then he concentrated on it and wrote a few big characters with piety and respect:
A thousand-gold recipe - De
Analog Heart study Thus said
1. The only thing you know is the appearance, and the appearance comes from the heart. Disasters and epidemics are also a sign, a sign of common karma manifested by the minds of all living beings. It is a reflection of the overall mood and moral level of all living beings in an area.
2. Sincerity leads to spiritual success. The higher the spiritual energy level of a person, the more sincerely he seeks blessings for all living beings, and the stronger his will, ability and spiritual power are, thus being able to call upon the mental power of all living beings to suppress luck and change the energy field.

"If people are good, although blessings have not yet come, disaster has been far away;
If people are evil, although disaster has not come, blessing has been far away."
Morality is the best "talisman" no matter when and where. The so-called "planting the foundation of public virtue", with this "foundation", vitality can be abundant, and we will have the " immunity " to resist disasters.
