In the middle of the Ming Dynasty, there was an old man in Xiangshan, eastern Guangdong. I can’t remember his name anymore. I only remember that his surname was Pan. He was about sixty years old, so everyone called him Pan Weng, which means Master Pan.

Mr. Pan is a rich man, and his family has hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars at least. At the same time, he is still a good person, a very good person, and a very good person with a very high level. It can be said that in terms of doing good, almost no one can compare with Mr. Pan. Because no matter how small or how big a good thing is, as long as he finds it, he will do it.

It can be as small as giving some money to a child from a poor family, allowing him to see a doctor and take medicine, giving a meal to an injured dog, or treating the wounds of stray animals; as big as helping monks, Buddhist scriptures, building temples, or giving to local people , pave roads for nearby man-made bridges, or help relatives and neighbors who have financial difficulties, and so on. In short, no matter where there is a need, Mr. Pan will actively help, either with money or effort, and never falls behind.

Later, Mr. Pan discovered that there were beggars in the local area, and there were many of them. So, Master Pan decided to do a good thing - to help beggars.

After some planning, Master Pan asked people to build a pergola, hired helpers, and then steamed thousands of steamed buns or cooked dozens of large pots of porridge every day to help the beggars.

Every day, hundreds or even thousands of beggars come to ask for steamed buns or porridge. Master Pan spends dozens of taels of silver every day. However, he didn't care, after all, the money was not much to him. Don't say he has money, even if he has no money, he will still find ways to help others.

Among the beggars, there was a mother-in-law who seemed to be quite old and would come every evening. After arriving, she would ask for food and tea, but Mr. Pan never minded. He gave her what she wanted every time and never asked her anything. This went on for several months.

Later, droughts and floods occurred in some nearby places, and the people had to flee because they could not receive food. I heard that Master Pan was helping beggars, so they came over one after another, asking for steamed buns, porridge, and water. As a result, the number of people increased from a few hundred to tens of thousands.

Just like that, another period of time passed. Although Mr. Pan was rich, he couldn't support tens of thousands of people to eat and drink. He spent hundreds of taels of silver every day. In addition, he sometimes spent money doing other good deeds, so his family's financial resources became less and less. In the end, he finally had no money. .

If the money is gone, do we have to let so many people starve to death? The government does not have much money, and the disaster relief funds allocated by the court are not much, and some corrupt officials have to embezzle them, so it is far from enough. Therefore, Mr. Pan decided to continue to help these beggars and disaster victims. For this reason, he began to sell off valuable things at home, such as furniture, paintings and calligraphy, etc., and later he could only sell farmland and houses.

In this way, it lasted for a few more months. The weather improved, and the victims survived the famine and went home to farm one after another. Many beggars have not had to worry about food and drink for a long time, and have taken good care of themselves. They have also begun to wash and dress up and find a job. And the old woman still comes every evening and is never absent.

Slowly, no one came. Everyone found work, and the old woman came alone.

Mr. Pan has now become a poor man, with only one house left to live in, and his food is no different from that of ordinary people. Whenever his mother-in-law comes, Mr. Pan still gives her his own food. He would rather not eat enough than see his mother-in-law go hungry.

When her mother-in-law saw it, she said: "I am an old widow without a home, so I often come to your house to beg for food. Now, you have no money, all the extra houses have been sold, and the property and furniture are gone. Alas, in the future, You don't have enough to eat yourself, who should I ask for food? Every time I think about this, I feel uncomfortable. In my opinion, it is better to do this. You give me this house and I will transform it into a temple for Guanyin Bodhisattva . After I have the temple, I will worship Guanyin Bodhisattva and become a nun. In this way, I can live with incense. Come on down, I won’t bother you anymore, okay?

When the people next to him heard this, they immediately became furious and said, "Master Pan has become so poor that he has almost no food to eat in order to help you people. Now he only has one house left. If you still want it, isn't it a lie?" Is it too much? "

Unexpectedly, Mr. Pan agreed, and then asked the family to pack up their things, prepare to move out, and gave the house to the old woman. His wife and children were very understanding and did not complain.

The old woman said again: "You leave Finally, where do you plan to go? Is there a place to stay? You won’t blame me, will you?

Mr. Pan laughed loudly and said, "If I blamed you, I wouldn't give you the house, let alone save people." I also have a place outside the city, which is a mountainous area. Due to flooding, there is no grass and it cannot be sold. I'll go there and build two thatched huts, which are enough for our family to live in. Isn't that great? "

The old woman said: "I've seen that area. It's several hectares, and it's quite big. The feng shui there is good, and if you choose the right acupuncture point, it will be of great benefit to you. I heard that you have been doing good deeds for many years and you haven't had time to move your parents to bury them. Since you want to move there, let me show you the feng shui. "

After finishing speaking, the old woman closed her eyes and started counting with her fingers.

After a while, she said: "There is a dead tree on the south side of the mountain. Under the dead tree, there is a natural stone cave, which is very big. It's very wide, and that's the best Feng Shui spot. If you move your parents and bury them there, not only will you become rich again, but your descendants will not have to worry about food and clothing. Do you believe it?

Mr. Pan nodded and said he believed it.

However, the old woman was worried that he could not operate well, so she personally took him to the mountainous area, then found the cave, and said: "The Feng Shui here is invisible to ordinary people." , if you move your parents to be buried here and then live in the front, it will make you rich again. "

After Mr. Pan moved his parents and buried them, the old woman came again, gave Mr. Pan some fruits, and said: "Spread these fruits in this wasteland. When they grow up, don't cut them down. After three years, , these fruits can truly mature. At that time, there will be treasures guarding these fruits for you, and then you will move to live somewhere else. If you want to get these treasures, you must have strong men smear realgar on their bodies during the five days from May 1st to May 5th, eat well, drink good wine, and then cut them down. At that time, you will rely on these treasures. Doing the only profession in the world, making money and getting rich.

Mr. Pan was puzzled and asked: "What on earth is this? What should I make and sell it?"

The old woman smiled mysteriously and said, "When the time comes, you will come and see what these treasures look like, and you will make whatever they look like. Isn't it great?" Why do you have to know what to do first? However, I have to tell you that the treasure I gave you is called Bodhi Fruit. Don’t give it to others. Even if you give it, it will be of no use to them. "

After finishing speaking, the old woman left. She really changed Master Pan's house into a nunnery dedicated to Bodhisattvas, and became a nun herself.

Master Pan and his family then bought materials, built a thatched house, and then planted Bodhi fruits. busy It took him half a year to build the house. After he finished his work, he went to the city to see his house and found that it had been completely renovated. There were still several nuns in it, but the old woman was gone.

A few more passed by. In the past month, those bodhi fruits have grown up and looked like bananas. They were all over the mountain. Mr. Pan cherished them and watered them and weeded them frequently. He listened to the old lady and did not cut down these treasures.

Three years later, these fruits were grown. The baby is all grown up, and the leaves look like a fan , and there is no need to make it yourself, just fold it and use it. So, he broke off the leaves and used them as banana fans to sell at the market. This thing was very good for cooling off, so everyone liked to buy it. In one summer, Mr. Pan earned hundreds of thousands of yuan.

As soon as Master Pan saw that this thing was good, some people came to ask. Some people had a bad idea and followed Master Pan and found the place where he grew Bodhi fruits.

Mr. Pan wants to go in again to see if there is a banana fan. As a result, when he first entered the garden, he saw a giant snake . This snake is seven feet tall and nearly one foot thick. In the past, this snake was still small, either lying on the ground, behind the fruit, or hiding in the cave, and Master Pan didn't see it. This time, after Master Pan saw it, he was too frightened to go in.

Because the giant snake stuck out its tongue and made a thunderous sound, and it spit out mist from its mouth, but without thinking too much, you knew it was poisonous gas, because the mist was black, and mosquitoes and flies would die no matter how far away they were.

Some people wanted to steal the treasure, but luckily Master Pan found out in time and drove them away. Anyway, the leaves of those fruits were gone, and even if they entered the garden, it would be useless, so after those people saw it, they no longer made any plans.

The next summer, Mr. Pan kept the old woman's words in mind and hired a group of strong young men. Starting from the first day of May, he asked them to go up the mountain and fold leaves in his garden to make banana fans. Before entering the mountain, Master Pan bought good wine and food, fed them well, smeared realgar on their bodies, and then told them how to operate.

Soon, the boys entered the mountain. As soon as they entered, they found a giant snake. The giant snake looked at them, motionless.

Mr. Pan remembered what the old lady said and thought it was okay, so he asked the boys to do it. After hesitating for a while, the giant snake went to visit elsewhere. The young men started to break off the leaves of the bodhi fruit, then tied them into bundles, carried them out, and put them together for unified disposal.

Strangely enough, the giant snake seemed to know the intentions of these people and Master Pan, so it had no ill intentions. He just looked around quietly, like a competent bodyguard.

After seeing it, some people want to steal Bodhi fruit leaves at night. However, before they entered the garden, the giant snake woke up and then spewed poisonous mist to scare these people. Some people also followed suit and smeared realgar on their bodies, but the giant snake could recognize it. With a swing of its tail, the man flew several feet away. Although he was not seriously injured, he did not dare to come back again.

There are many people who have tried different methods, either digging tunnels or attacking in the east and west, all trying to steal Bodhi fruit leaves. But, without exception, they all failed.

Digging a tunnel didn't work, which directly woke up the big snake. With the big snake's escape technique, their tunnel collapsed. Some people were buried in tunnels and almost died.

It doesn't work to attack the east and west. At the beginning, there were only two people, one to lure away the big snake, and the other to steal the leaves. As a result, Orochi knew the art of cloning, and both of them saw the Orochi and ran away in fear. The two men later refused to give up and called for help when they went back to continue the tactic of luring the snake out of its hole. However, even if there are more than twenty of them, all in one place, Orochi can burst out more than twenty clones and drive them away one by one.

Once, the big snake seemed to be annoyed. Instead of spraying poisonous mist, it directly sprayed out a ball of fire. The ball of fire landed at the feet of the person trying to enter the garden and exploded. A big pit appeared on the ground, and the ground turned red. The man was knocked far away. He quickly put out the fire on his body and rolled away. After

, everyone knows that this giant snake is not just a snake, but more like a patron saint. It can be cracked no matter what method is used. Because this big snake has many tricks, not only can it be cloned and invisibly , but it can also spray poisonous mist, fireballs, water to turn into ice, and spray beans to turn into small snakes.

Someone once tried to burn Mr. Pan’s Bodhi Fruits with the mentality of “destroy it if you can’t get it”. He got many bundles of firewood, lit them and threw them in the garden. But when the giant snake saw it, it sprayed water and put out the fire. Immediately, the giant snake spewed out many small snakes, which scared the people and ran away crying.

Obviously, this giant snake doesn't want to hurt people, it just scares people away every time. Otherwise, it would not be afraid at all even if 20,000 people came, let alone more than 20 people.

In five days, all the leaves of the bodhi fruit were broken off.

Master Pan chose the exquisite leaves among them and let his family decorate them. He used tortoiseshell ivory as the handle and the edges were wrapped with brocade. In this way, the fan, which cost less than one cent of silver, could be sold for five cents or even one tael of silver. It sells such fans to dignitaries and makes more money. The medium-sized fan is decorated by Mr. Pan with selected rough jade and sold to ordinary people for less money. Those ordinary fans are only given ordinary treatment and then sold to ordinary people at low prices, making almost no money.

Everyone likes this kind of fan. Everyone has one, including wealthy people, literati, ordinary people, and even prostitutes. Even vendors from surrounding areas and even distant places came to buy these fans, so Mr. Pan exchanged the fans for them to save himself from having to sell them again.

Mr. Pan made a fortune relying on these bodhi fruit leaves. Soon he bought a luxurious house, land, etc., and then continued to be a rich man. Of course, Mr. Pan has not changed his nature. He is still trying his best to do good things as before.

Mr. Pan has some relatives and friends who want Bodhi fruit seeds and want to take them home and plant them. Mr. Pan said that these seeds can only be planted in his own garden. If you can't change the place, there is no use giving them to them. Everyone didn't believe it, so Mr. Pan personally gave them seeds. But after they planted them, it really didn't work. Either they couldn't survive or they couldn't grow at all.

So, some people speculated that Mr. Pan must have cooked the seeds before giving them to them, or he might have given them fake seeds.

Master Pan was helpless. In order to avoid everyone's misunderstanding and to prevent everyone from taking the risk of stealing, Master Pan personally took some people to the garden.

The giant snake looked at Master Pan, looked at everyone, did nothing, and fell asleep again.

Everyone picked some seeds and left with satisfaction. After they went back, they planted the plants and found that they still failed. They either didn't grow at all, or they didn't grow big, or they turned into ordinary flowers and plants. This time, they finally believed it. As a result, no one would steal anymore. Occasionally, some people would do damage, but they would all be frightened away by the giant snake.

Later, Mr. Pan learned that the old woman was actually Guanyin Bodhisattva who descended to earth. She saw that Mr. Pan had become impoverished in order to save people, but he could still persist in doing good, so she gave him the Bodhi Fruit and let him become a rich man again. This can be regarded as Bodhisattva's reward to Master Pan. Of course, it is mainly a reward for Master Pan's good deeds.

Thanks to the bodhi fruit, Master Pan’s descendants have made a living. They still sell fans, are still rich, and still do good deeds. It has been three hundred years and it is still the same.

As the saying goes, "Good deeds will be rewarded with good deeds, and evil deeds will be rewarded with evil deeds. It's not that you don't get retribution because the time has not yet come." This statement does make sense. God wants to reward kind people. If he does a great good deed, give him a big reward, and his blessings will last forever, and his descendants will enjoy the blessings. If he does a small good deed, give him a small reward, and he may be the only one to get the reward.

Like Mr. Pan, he did a great deed and saved thousands of people. The Bodhisattva gave him a great reward and a job that he could continue to do, so that his descendants would be blessed. .

So, people should do more good deeds, especially do good deeds secretly, so that they can accumulate negative virtue and protect their descendants.
