The second story I want to tell is about my grandfather. This story confuses me more than the first story... About the first story about grandpa, you can read
Jiulong Township and Shuangjiang Town are separated by the Yangtze River and can only be reached by ferry across the river. But the purpose of that villager running so far was just to prove something that a "half-immortal" there said.
What happened at that time was like this - there was one thing he didn't know, and he wanted to consult a half-immortal. In our current terms, it is to ask him to perform some "superstitious rituals" (this is still practiced in many rural areas). So the half-immortal ascended to the altar to perform rituals and asked the passing gods to help him solve his doubts.
It doesn’t matter if you invite me. The person you invited is an old god crying on the roadside. The "half-immortal" asked the old immortal why he was so sad? So the old god told his family to keep his body for seven days before his death, but his own child was buried after only five days, and told the story from beginning to end. Finally, I cried and said I can’t go back now. Don't know what to do?
Later, the "half-immortal" asked the old immortal's name. Where did he live during his lifetime? What are the names of children and grandchildren and their units? I'd like to send a message... You readers should have guessed when you saw this, that the old god invited is my grandfather.
Hearing this, I also have doubts in my heart like all the readers. So I smiled and said to my father: Dad, the half-immortal must have known the details of my family in advance, and then used grandpa’s strange things to deceive everyone into making money.
But my father said that he was also wary of this at the beginning, but when the person left, he thought about it slowly and carefully... It was wrong! It was obviously only the sixth day before grandpa's coffin was sent up the mountain, so why did the villagers say it was only kept there for five days?
My father calculated more carefully and suddenly figured it out - it turned out that my grandfather left at 5 or 6 in the afternoon and was sent up the mountain at 5 or 6 in the morning on the sixth day. To be precise, it was only five and a half days. (If these are really what my grandfather said, I want to say to him: Your old man’s spirit of seeking truth from facts has been inherited by your grandson)
I asked my father again: Did the villagers ask for money when they left?
My father answered me affirmatively: No.
I asked again: Then he will have dinner at my house, come to eat and drink? The father still replied no. The man asked the question and left. He just wanted to verify and verify, and gave me a message by the way.
I am really speechless. I crossed the Yangtze River twice and walked on a muddy road for a day, just to confirm it? Send a message?
As for why the villagers asked the half-fairy, I have never asked my father. I think my father mostly didn’t ask the villagers. Anyway, this has nothing to do with the main plot of the story, so my second story should end here.
Chenghuang Temple
If the second story about my grandfather is strange, then the third story I am about to tell about him is even more outrageous.
My uncle, like my father, is a loyal and honest person. My uncle told me this story, so I still believe him. I had grown up at that time, and once I went to my uncle's house to play. I didn't know what he was talking about, and he mentioned my grandfather again, so he told me the following story:
One afternoon, a former friend of my grandfather came to see him. Let me first explain that my grandfather’s friend specializes in funeral supplies. For generations, their family has made a living by making wreaths, small paper people and banknotes.
They are often asked by others to participate in some "superstitious activities", such as dancing, doing underworld, etc. Anyway, people in their circle still respect that person very much. I don't remember his name, he is probably dead now.
As soon as he entered the door and sat down, he nervously said to my uncle: "I saw grandpa today at noon!"
It turned out that he was working in the shop, and for some reason, he fell asleep in a daze, but he felt "awake than ever before" (note: the original words are like this). He was on his way to "another world". He said that he had walked this road many times and he was very familiar with these streets. He even knew what buildings were on the streets.
But when he was walking, he suddenly found an extra temple on the side of the road. Although the temple is not big, it is magnificent and colorful.
He couldn't help but wonder, and was very confused, how many times had he walked this road, and why hadn't he seen this temple in the past few years? Why was there an extra temple now, so he walked over to have a look, thinking that no matter which immortal family he was from, he should always go there to have a look and pay homage.
So he stepped into the main hall, and after finishing the three prayers and nine prayers, he looked up...yo! He was shocked, my God, wasn't Uncle Huang sitting up there? So he started chatting with his grandfather.
What did they say? I was also curious, but my uncle didn't tell them in detail. Maybe he didn't ask in detail at the time. It’s just that my grandfather told his friend that he is now the City God of the City God Temple in Shuangjiang Town.
Not long after, my grandfather’s friend woke up, but what he saw and heard in the dream was still vivid in his mind, as if he was immersed in it. So he immediately ran to me and told my uncle.
That’s about all my grandfather’s story plus the first one, and it’s over here. But then I remembered something one of my uncles told me a few years ago.
My uncle is usually not a reliable person and loves to joke, so I suggest readers just read it and don’t take it too seriously. I will tell you the story my uncle told me later.
