According to Fox Sports reporter Ric Bucher, sources said the main reason for this change was the deterioration of the relationship between Schlenk and Trae Young and Nick Ressler.

Live Broadcast, January 1st News: A week ago, Schlenk, the former president of basketball operations of the Hawks, was changed to senior consultant. Landry Fields took over the basketball operations and took on a larger role.

According to Fox Sports reporter Ric Bucher, sources said that the main reason for this change was the deterioration of the relationship between Schlenk and Trae Young and Nick Ressler (the son of the Hawks owner).

Nick Ressler, Trae Young, and Landry Fields have a close relationship and are committed to building a team around Trae Young. Sources revealed that the Hawks acquired Murray from the Spurs last year and it was these people who designed it, not Schlenk.

In another move that went unreported, Eagles scouting director Stephen Giles was also placed on the sidelines and Grant Lifman, a scout hired by the Eagles last summer (Fields' college roommate), was promoted.
