World of Warcraft has been having a very difficult time in Taiwan recently.
If you still remember, on the 19th of last month, when Howard made his debut in the T1 league, his performance could be said to be a dimensionality reduction blow. scored 38 points, 25 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 blocks. For a time, Howard's name made the headlines of major media, and the T1 league was also known by more fans.
Objectively speaking, Howard did play well in that game. From controlling the ball, to organizing offense, mid-range, three-pointers, and breaking through with the ball, Howard did almost everything he had never done in NBA. The important thing is that Howard also led the Taoyuan Clouded Leopards to reverse the CITIC special attack and win by 25 points.
In the second game one day later, Howard's performance was not as exciting as in the first game, but considering that it was a back-to-back game, 's near-triple double of 23 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists seemed acceptable. The only drawback was that the Taoyuan Clouded Leopards did not continue their victory and unfortunately lost to the Taichung Suns 94-103.
What happened next made the fans unhappy.
After playing only two games, Howard announced that he would take a truce due to knee discomfort. You can say that this injury is indeed inevitable, but during the truce, Howard took photos, went to various dinner parties, and took photos with various Internet celebrity beauties. Fans obviously would not be happy to see this.
Two weeks later, that is, on December 16, Howard returned after nearly a month. However, this time his performance can be said to have declined a lot. In two consecutive games:
- against the Taiwan Steel Falcons, 21 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
- Against CITIC Special Attack, 15 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
In the game against the Falcons, Howard faced off against three tall men on the opposite side, includes Dracula who is 2.30 meters tall and Brar who is 2.26 meters tall and is nicknamed "Indian Yao Ming". Although Howard had some highlights, he was really frustrated throughout the game. He was blocked once and made 5 turnovers.
So far, Howard has played four games for the T1 League, averaging 24.3 points, 13.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. 1.8 blocks , which looks good, but the points are decreasing every game, and his efficiency is unimaginably low. shot 41.4% from the field, 12.5% from the three-point range, and 56.4% from the free throw line.
The Taoyuan Clouded Leopards' record is also worrying. currently has a total of 1 win and 7 losses, ranking at the bottom of the T1 league. The only game they won was Howard's debut.
Facts have proved that Howard is indeed useful as a blue-collar worker. If you let him hold the ball and play like a defender, the result will be like this even in the T1 league - Howard's three-pointers are really bad, but he averages 6 shots per game, and even though he averages 6 assists and 4 turnovers per game, it is difficult to say that he has helped the team.
For comparison, Howard's teammate, Troy Williams, who is also a foreign aid, has played 5 games so far, and has averaged 30.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. Although Troy Williams' efficiency is not good, Howard's performance may not necessarily surpass his teammates.
This was not over yet. Then in the third game against the Kaohsiung Poseidons, Howard suddenly announced that he could not play in the game. The fans were unhappy for a while. The home fans even began to switch sides and cheer for their opponents. As you can imagine, he was soon labeled as a "big name".
This also means that the T1 league schedule is unreasonable. T1 league games are basically played from Friday to Sunday nights. Sometimes there may be only one game in two weeks, and sometimes there are three games in a week. Howard's absence is the third game of back-to-back. In fact, it is understandable if there is a rotation.
However, fans don't care about this. After Howard joined T1, Taoyuan Clouded Leopards' tickets were basically sold out regardless of home and away games. As a result, Howard not only let the fans go in away games, but also did not play at home. For this, Howard also apologized to the fans on social media.
To sum up, the T1 league itself does have shortcomings, but Howard's performance did decline every game, and the team's record did not meet expectations. More importantly, fans who bought tickets could not see Howard , so there will naturally be negative comments.
As far as Howard is concerned, if his goal is to return to the NBA, then the experience in the T1 League may not be a bonus.
