Brighton has confirmed that Alexis Mike Alister has signed a new contract to keep him at the club until June 2025.
The 23-year-old was acquired by the Seagulls in January 2019 when a four-and-a-half-year contract was signed, but has been loaned to the Argentine Youth Team for the rest of the season.
Mike Alister then loaned to Boca Youth Team next season but will return to England in 2020 and break into Brighton's first team before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
Since then, his importance in the club has gradually grown and has become a key player this season.
Mike Alister said in an interview with the new agreement on the official Brighton website: "I'm really happy in Brighton. I'm grateful that the club gave me the opportunity to come to England and play in Premier League , which was an incredible journey.
"We have made great progress in Graham Porter and I know there is more to do." I'm now enjoying working with another top coach at Roberto Dezelby and hopefully help the club continue to improve.
Argentine was signed and broke into the team under Porter, but there is no doubt that in the near future this will be crucial for the new head coach Dezeby, who is also happy with the news: "I am very happy for Alexis and the club. He is a big player for us and he signed this new long-term contract is very good.
He added: "I look forward to working with him more to help him improve and see him play in the World Cup next month."
Mike Alister made his Argentina debut in 2019 and was selected for Lionel Scaloni's lineup to participate in the last two friendly matches before the World Cup in September.
