Later, Diao Linyu was seconded to play in the Southern Women's Volleyball Team. As a setter, Diao Linyu was selected into the Jiangsu Women's Volleyball Team in 2013. But Diao Linyu was not even considered a substitute in the team. In 2014, Cai Bin served as the head coach of the Jiangsu Women's Volleyball Team. In his eyes, Diao Linyu had great development potential and would definitely become an excellent setter in time. So Cai Bin appointed Diao Linyu as the team's main setter despite everyone's doubts. Diao Linyu did not live up to Cai Bin's expectations. She began to stand out in subsequent games and frequently helped the team win major championships. She was also elected as the best setter. In 2017, Diao Linyu entered the Chinese women's volleyball team and began to compete with more masters.
However, in subsequent selections for the World Series, Diao Linyu failed time and time again, always missing out on a place in the competition. The postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was announced, which gave Diao Linyu more time to prepare.
