This story is based on Liu Leilei, the male sparring partner of the Chinese women’s judo team. It tells how he changed his identity from a male judo player with a dream of champion to become a male sparring player of the national women’s judo team. Former Chinese women’s judo team captain, Olympic silver medal, world champion Liu Xia; former national women’s judo team coaches Wang Hua, Hu Lining, Guo Jingjing, Ma Mingyan, Li Jiang and Qingdao Judo Association and China-Japan Friendship Qingdao Judo Gym coach Song Chao, Li Xia, Liu Wenlong, Su Pengcheng, amateur judo practitioners Li Jianyi, Wang Xiaowei, Wang Yong, Yuan Qingping, Wang Jiatong, Wang Xuedan, Miao Wenna, Qi Zhihao, Chen Yusheng, Ding Keyang, Wang Kunpeng and others, as well as the men's and women's judo team of Qingdao Sports School, The Weifang Sports School Judo Team and Qingdao Judo Halls co-starred in TV series. The play tells the timeline of Leilei’s judo sparring career spanning from 2001 to 2017. In order to be more realistic and closer to life, the judo tatami mats used were from Jiaozhou Sports School, Qingdao No. 39 Middle School, Canghai Road Primary School, and Qingdao City Third. Judo mats were borrowed from the North Branch School of the 19th Middle School, the China-Japan Friendship Qingdao Judo Gym, and the Qingdao Sports School to restore the training scene of the national judo team. In particular, Zhang Ruitao, a male judo athlete and young Leilei actor of Qingdao Sports School, has been well received for his hard work in filming.
During the filming process, Vice Chairman Liang Hong of Qingdao Judo Association, Vice Chairman He Ligang, and Secretary General Wang Yulong of the Family Committee of Qingdao Judo Club of China-Japan Friendship also visited the crew members during the Chinese New Year.
There are a total of 40 episodes in the play, and 40 representative characters are selected for shooting. The play shows the spirit of the people throughout the country in the new era of unremitting struggle to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
