"Scientific innovation has no borders, no gender." The person who said this was the Chinese female scientist Chen Lingling . She always smiles and explores the genetic "dark matter" endlessly.
In the wonderful world of life science, there are many little-known mysterious "dark matter", and non-coding RNA (ribonucleic acid) is one of them. Chen Lingling has been committed to this for a long time, cracking the genetic code and unveiling the mystery of life.
Chen Lingling joined the Communist Party of China in June 1998. She is currently a member of the Party Committee and research group of the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She has won the honors of National March 8th Red Flag Bearer , China Youth Science and Technology Award (Special Award), China Youth Female Scientist Award and other honors. . Caring for the motherland, exploring the mystery of the genome "dark matter"
. During her study in the United States, Chen Lingling did experiments during the day and learned management at night, and raced against time every day. In 2009, Chen Lingling won a double degree in biomedical and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut. From 2009 to 2010, Chen Lingling was engaged in postdoctoral research at the Stem Cell Research Institute of the school. During this period, she was supported by the Kangzhou stem cell research project as an independent PI (researcher). In May 2010, she was promoted to Assistant Professor.
In 2011, just when her development abroad was smooth and the prospects were bright, Chen Lingling gave up the good development opportunities abroad and insisted on choosing to return to China.
"When I came back more than ten years ago, the domestic scientific research environment was already very good. We have advanced instruments and equipment, and a very transparent and fair scientific research process. In recent years, many scientific researchers around me have returned from overseas studies one after another. Our ambitions are the same, and we all want to truly make due scientific research contributions to the country." With this belief, Chen Lingling returned to China as a "special talent" of the former Shanghai Academy of Biotechnology.
In 2011, this field was just starting out internationally, and there was even less relevant research in China. Chen Lingling was one of the early scientists engaged in the research on long non-coding RNA in the world. After returning to China, she began to pioneer in this field in China.
In this field called biological "dark matter", exploring unknown happiness prompted Chen Lingling to uncover the truth of life science step by step. She summarized her work as "studying the genomic dark matter that predecessors did not know". She and her partners were the "decoders" who traveled through the darkness to chase light.

recruits teams, applies for funds, and trains graduate students... In the process of constantly moving to the scientific highland, Chen Lingling leads the laboratory team to create a long non-coding and circular RNA research technology system, and has achieved a series of original research results in revealing its generation rules, mechanisms of action, and its association with human diseases, opening up new directions in the research field.
During this period, Chen Lingling led the team to publish more than 260 SCI papers, many of which were published in internationally renowned academic journals. Chen Lingling has obtained four authorized invention patents and actively promotes the clinical transformation research of new RNA technologies and new methods in diseases such as Xiaopang Willie syndrome, autoimmune disease , etc., in order to use the cutting-edge achievements in related RNA research to develop new technologies for disease diagnosis and treatment. Currently, Chen Lingling serves as the editorial board of the top international journals Cell and Science.
Through dedicated research and precipitation in the "dark matter" world, Chen Lingling's scientific research capabilities and achievements have won wide recognition and high praise from the international academic community, enhanced my country's international influence in this research field, and actively expressed the voice of Chinese scientists to the world.
