This is Google's quantum artificial intelligence lab, dozens of super smart people work in offices equipped with climbing walls and electric bikes to shape the next generation of computers — a generation that will be different from anything in the user's current pocket or office.

"This is a new type of computer that uses quantum mechanics to perform calculations, allowing us to... solve problems that would otherwise be impossible," explains Erik Lucero, chief engineer at the campus near Santa Barbara.
