The 12th Typhoon "Plum Blossom" (tropical storm level) of this year has been transformed into temperate cyclone in northeastern Liaoning at 8 pm today (16th). Central Meteorological Observatory stopped numbering it at 8 pm tonight.
"Typhoon stop editing" ≠ "Typhoon delisting"
Typhoon stop editing means that when typhoon is insufficient energy and attenuated to tropical low pressure (the maximum average wind force in the center is less than level 8) or enters a high latitude and degenerates into a temperate cyclone, the Central Meteorological Observatory stops numbering it and no longer issues relevant reports.
Typhoon degeneration
The degeneration mentioned here is to change the nature, and the typhoon changes from a tropical cyclone to a temperate cyclone. When the tropical cyclone moves northward into the westerly zone , it is invaded by cold air on the one hand, and on the other hand, due to latitude, the water temperature on the sea surface also decreases. The temperature field of the center of the tropical cyclone is no longer a heartwarming structure. The low-pressure center changes from vertical to considerable inclination with the change of height, losing the unique characteristics of the tropical cyclone and becomes a temperate cyclone. This process is called the degeneration of tropical cyclones.
