A mysterious " earthquake fish " appeared in Taiwan. The fish body is 6 meters long and
Some time ago, according to media reports, a young man surnamed Lin caught a huge royal hairtail fish on the beach of Taitung County . The fish is 6 meters long and weighs 130 kilograms. It takes a lot of effort for a single strong man to pick it up. However, before I could be happy, after being informed of the "history" of the hairtail, everyone showed worried expressions. It turned out that the hairtail was also called "earthquake fish" by the locals. They believed that the hairtail was closely related to earthquakes, and an earthquake would occur in the mouths of the ancestors. So the question is, is the appearance of the hairtail fish really related to earthquakes? Will this be a precursor to an earthquake? The old rules, like and follow, let’s learn about the latest news
Before answering the above questions, let’s first understand the specific situation of the day. June to August is the peak fishing season in the eastern sea area of Taiwan Province, my country. On that day, Brother Kobayashi from Xianglan Village excitedly went to the beach to fish after lunch. Unexpectedly, he was so lucky today, so he found a "big goods" as soon as he got up. Kobayashi fought for more than 40 minutes before taking the fish. He saw that it was covered with silver light. The fish's dorsal fin several meters long was brick-red, and its body was covered with blue block patterns. This "monster" was not an ordinary sea fish, but a hairtail fish known as the "deep sea messenger".
After measurement, the fish was as long as 6 meters long and weighed 130 kilograms. The fishermen next to them all came to "visit". As can be seen from the video, Kobayashi hugged the fish and couldn't stop smiling. The next second, when he knew that the fish was also called "earthquake fish" was an ominous sign, he was instantly frightened and frown.
Why is the hairtail called "earthquake fish"?
In Western legends, hairtail fish is a terrifying and mysterious " sea snake " eats everything and is extremely dangerous. In fact, this is not the first time that earthquake fish was found in Taiwan. On September 21, 2020, the 21st anniversary of the death of the 921 earthquake in Taiwan, a fisherman in Taitung caught an earthquake fish. What’s more coincidentally, another magnitude 4.6 earthquake occurred on that day; on July 22, 2020, a giant earthquake fish was also seen in Mexican beaches, and tourists hugged the fish and took a photo with them; British media reported on July 13 that fishermen in Chile’s Arica caught a 5-meter-long earthquake fish, and local residents were panicked. Sure enough, on July 28, my country’s earthquake network determined that a magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred in the northern coastal areas of Chile.
So is the hairtail really closely related to earthquakes?
hairtail is a mysterious ancient creature with a slender body and is known as the longest breed in bone fish. The Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean are their "comfort zones". They often live in the deep sea. From their size, it can also be seen that it is a bad temper. Not only do they eat fish and shrimps, they even extend giant teeth to their similar types. In 2013, the hairtail was listed as an endangered species in the world. Due to its poor meat texture and its usual binding to disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis, its commercial value is not high.
In fact, there is not a relationship between the hairtail and the earthquake. It is just because the striking hairtail often lives in the deep sea, and earthquakes are mostly due to plate movement. The coastal areas are usually located in the active zone of earthquakes. When the striking hairtail occurs, the striking hairtail will swim to shallow water. However, it does not mean that the striking hairtail will appear every time. In May 2010, a 3.4-meter-long striking hairtail floated on the west coast of Sweden. It died shortly after it was discovered, and no earthquake occurred later. Japanese scholars have done research and they counted the discovery of 226 times of shaved hairpins, of which the frequency of earthquakes occurred is about 93%. It can be said that there are a small number of influencing factors, but it is not necessarily accompanied by them.
So, is it a sign of something that appears in Taiwan this time?
According to Fujian Earthquake Network, there were 19 earthquakes in Taiwan in June this year, with the highest magnitude of 6.1 and the lowest magnitude of 2.5. This is mainly due to the particular geographical location of Taiwan. The earthquake frequency is extremely high due to plate compression, which has no direct relationship with the appearance of shaved fish. There are all kinds of wonders in the world, so will there be any natural phenomenon that can predict earthquakes in advance?
"Man follows the earth, the earth follows the sky". There are many laws in nature. When an earthquake comes, the surrounding environment will be affected and there will be many abnormal phenomena. First of all, groundwater. Before the earthquake comes, the well water will turn upwards, the color will be turbid and the smell will be bad, and the source of spring water will also begin to have problems; some extreme weather is also a sign of earthquakes, such as drought, rain and flood, strong winds, snow in the world, etc. Of course, these phenomena are not necessarily due to earthquakes; the smell in the air will also change before the earthquake, which is usually strange; generally, the ground will also have slight turmoil before the earthquake comes. The principle of the ancient seismometer is related to this phenomenon.
