Chinese Academy of Sciences announced the list of candidates (general fields) to enter the 2022 Chinese Academy of Sciences Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Award overall evaluation and announced it. The "Research Collective for Key Technologies of Strong Flow Proton Superconducting Linear Accelerator" from the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was among them.
This research collectively undertakes the strategic pilot technology special project "Future Advanced Nuclear Fission Energy —ADS Transmutation System" (hereinafter referred to as the ADS Pilot Special Project), breaking through key technologies such as strong current superconducting linear accelerator design and high-performance superconducting cavity. In 2017, the world's first 25-megatron electron volt continuous wave strong current proton superconducting linear accelerator was built. From 2017 to 2021, key technologies such as beam current loss control, load effect, and automatic recovery were broken through, and the stable operation of a 10mA continuous wave proton beam was achieved for the first time in the world (about 5 times that of similar international devices). After expert on-site testing, the beam availability reached 93.5%, marking that my country has a significant advantage in this field. Through independent innovation in superconducting linear accelerator technology, the research collective has laid a technical foundation for the construction of CiADS and HIAF, the construction of major national scientific and technological infrastructure, to solve major scientific problems in related fields and meet major national needs.
It is reported that the list released this time includes 9 groups including the "Green Chemistry and Technology Research Group" from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on the list.
