Paul is not only a very popular astronaut, he is also a Moto Guzzi fan and owns a variety of Moto Guzzi models. He not only shared photos of the cold and lonely outer space with us, but also shared a more down-to-earth motorcycle riding experience. In his recently published book, Creating Space—A Story and Thoughts of an Astronaut on Earth, he shared with us his thoughts as a Knight of Moto Guzzi.
Q: You are driving Moto Guzzi to explore and hunt in Sardinia, the most profound impression on you?
Answer: Since I moved to Houston, Texas, Sardinia has always been a place that makes me deeply attached to. It feels great to unleash the powerful potential of the V85 TT in the magnificent Sardinia and enjoy letting yourself go!
In this expedition, I exchanged mounts with my teammates and experienced different ways of riding. Under the guidance of senior guide, we fully experience the magnificence of the journey and enjoy the unique local scenery. My desire to explore is fully activated. Curiosity is hidden deep in everyone's heart. The strong desire drives us to try things that no one has tried, drives us to practice, run to distant places, and carefully savor the extraordinary experiences in ordinary life.
Q: You are very grateful for the mount Moto Guzzi V85 TT during your adventure in Sardinia. Please compare, what is the difference between this adventure car and your previous car?
Answer: There is no doubt that everyone will not forget their first love. But it is also undeniable that the V85 TT has greater advantages, great technology, and has a sedan-like precision electronic intelligent assist device. My first love Quota is very strong and stable, but the V85 TT gives people a better experience, and the feeling of being integrated with the human and car is very strong, and the rider's instructions are tame and obedient. Although I haven't traveled on a motorcycle for many years, I feel like an old friend after I step on it. The V85 TT is easy to drive, with uphill, downhill, and corners, and a mileage of more than 350 kilometers is full of fun! This is the feeling of freedom and power, which immediately evokes the memories of my first time controlling Moto Guzzi!
Question: You grew up in Verano Brianza, not far from Mandello del Lario, where Moto Guzzi's base camp is located. Can you share some good memories with us?
Answer: In the United States, I met the director of the Moto Guzzi US office many years ago. It was a wonderful moment because when we talked about Moto Guzzi, we felt like family! The Moto Guzzi factory is very close to my hometown. I clearly remember that when I was a kid, I often passed the red door of the factory, and the eagle logo on the door always made me feel excited! This monumental eagle has long become a famous symbol. It not only represents Moto Guzzi, but also symbolizes the free flying space created by Moto Guzzi for riders. I especially like this eagle because it longs for the sky, and as an astronaut I long for exploring the sky. This is the infinite charm of Moto Guzzi, which allows the rider to quickly develop the urge to control and arouse the unknown desire!
