In 2009, the state approved the construction of the first national supercomputer center in Tianjin Binhai New Area, and Meng Xiangfei participated in the development of my country's first ten-trillion-time supercomputer " Tianhe No. 1 ". Over the years, Meng Xiangfei led his team to realize the process of " Tianhe " from simulating the formation and evolution of the universe to simulating the process of combining atoms and into new materials. Now the "Tianhe" supercomputer has been widely used in dozens of fields such as aerospace, climate and meteorology, oil exploration, genetic technology, advanced manufacturing, new energy, and new materials, and has supported more than 4,000 major innovation breakthroughs and achievements in total.
"Tianhe" has truly become the "national weapon". At the National Supercomputing Tianjin Center , the development of the new generation of "Tianhe" 10 billion supercomputers has made breakthrough progress. Meng Xiangfei introduced that "Now there are more than 15,000 computing and R&D tasks running on the 'Tianhe' series of supercomputers every day, and more than 8,000 scientific research enterprises and government teams carry out scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship on the 'Tianhe'. Technology research and development in the industrial field has become a platform for the development of major national scientific and technological innovation and the development of the national digital economy . The digital design of 'Deep Sea One' and seismic analysis of Baihetan Hydropower Station are all contributed by 'Tianhe'."
The new generation of supercomputers of "Tianhe" adopts systematic independent technology, namely independent computing processors, independent high-speed communication network technology and independent operating system.
