The previous list of top 100 counties mainly referenced indicators such as GDP, financial deposits, fiscal revenue, etc., and then comprehensively sorted the major counties and cities based on their weights.
Of course, this is a very reasonable classification method, mainly referring to the economic strength of various places, and is basically the same as the comprehensive strength.
Observation can be found that whether it is a county or city or other high-level cities, my country's official classification of cities mainly focuses on the permanent population in urban areas.
During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the state officially issued the "Notice on Adjusting the Standards for the Division of Urban Scale", which clearly introduced the permanent population of urban areas as the only indicator to measure urban standards.
In terms of the total population size, ordinary prefecture-level cities such as Linyi , Nanyang , Fuyang , Ganzhou and other Ganzhou have extremely strong advantages. However, the introduction of the permanent population of urban areas is gradually weakening.

According to the permanent urban population data of the seventh national census, China's four strong counties have been re-identified, namely Kunshan (1.4143 million people), Yiwu (1.1842 million people), Cixi (1.0619 million people), and Jinjiang (1.0125 million people).

During the same period, the permanent population of Ruian's urban area has reached 970,000, and will also be among the big cities in the short term. Observation also shows that using the permanent urban population as a measure indicator, Jiangsu and Zhejiang have become the weather vane for my country's county economy.
To some extent, all core indicators are homogeneous.
The improvement of economic strength will inevitably slowly attract population inflow. The continuous inflow of population will inevitably lead to social and economic improvement. Over time, the correlation between population and economy will become stronger and stronger.
In the list of other top 100 counties, Jiangyin can be said to be the second thousand-year-old, but the permanent population in the urban area is only 830,000.
In addition, the permanent population of urban areas such as Changshu, Zhangjiagang, and Taicang in southern Jiangsu are lower than those of counties and cities in Zhejiang such as Yueqing and Ruian.
