Because it is approaching the shelf life

This type of food is called "expiry food"
is gradually becoming the new favorite of young people
Many netizens believe that
There is no difference in quality of expiration foods and fresh
The price is more economical and affordable

However, some people say that
will be rancid and oxidized
nutritional ingredients are also lost
...Is this true?
What is the difference between expiration food and normal products?
I believe that many fans of the Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee WeChat public account also had the same questions, so our Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee WeChat team compared various expiration foods with corresponding normal products.
"
"
Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee WeChat team selected 9 foods with relatively fresh shelf life and corresponding expiration foods, and sent them to Shanghai Yuanben Food Quality Inspection Co., Ltd. (Shanghai Nutritional Food Quality Supervision and Inspection Station), tested some indicators, and found a different place.

What is expiration food?
Expiration food refers to foods that are about to reach the shelf life of the food but are still in the shelf life. On January 27, 2012, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued a document to clearly require that food operators should give consumers eye-catching reminders for the food that is about to expire.
1 The content of vitamin C for beverages is lost
. Will the food in expiration affect nutrition? We tested vitamin C.
. After testing, both beverages in expiration foods have lost vitamin C to varying degrees. The content of vitamin C for
orange juice (non-concentrated recovery) is 73.6% lower than that of fresh products; the content of vitamin C for lemon-flavored tea beverages is 36.4% lower than that of fresh products.
2 There is a change in the acid value and peroxide value of the expiration food
Will the expiration food affect the quality? We also measured the acid value and peroxide value. The acid value of
reflects the content of acid substances (free fatty acids) in the oil; the peroxide value reflects the content of peroxide in the oil. If the food is placed too long, produced too long or stored in bad conditions, the oil in the food will inevitably undergo rancid oxidation, causing the acid value and peroxide value to increase. In this comparison, although the acid value and peroxide value of the expiration food have increased a little, they still meet the national standard requirements, so the quality should not be a big problem.
Among them, the acid price changes of instant noodles and biscuits are less obvious; while products with high oil content such as shaqima and pot crust have greater acid prices.
Tips
In this way, there are still some differences in quality and fresh food, but it is within an acceptable range. If you care, you should avoid buying temporary foods with relatively high vitamin content, try to buy products with a relatively close production date. After buying the food, you should also pay attention to keeping them in a cool and light condition.
