The 79th Air Raid Brigade of the Ukrainian Army is one of its old elite brigades, predecessored by the 40th Airborne Assault Brigade during the Soviet Army period.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the brigade was transferred to the Ukrainian army and later reduced to the 79th Air Mobile Regiment. In 2007, the regiment was jointly organized into the 79th Air Massive Brigade with the 11th Regiment of the Army, becoming an elite force in the Ukrainian army's key construction.
After the outbreak of the Eastern Wu war in 2014, the brigade became one of the first Ukrainian troops to mobilize and was deployed to the theater for combat. When the war broke out in Russia and Ukraine, the 79th Air Raid Brigade had three assault battalions, three artillery battalions, and air defense , reconnaissance, support and other units. At the same time, the brigade also had tank teams within or affiliated to this system.
The 79th Air Brigade permanently stationed in Nikolayev , but at the beginning of the war, the main force of the brigade was deployed to fight in the direction of Luhansk . The reason why the 79th Brigade can maintain its existence on the long front is that it is because the system has been disrupted and the temporary arrest and replenishment of people.
In a word, the original team was almost completely wiped out, and now the new recruits are mainly maintained, so the combat effectiveness is not as good as before.
And by the end of November, the troops of the 79th Brigade were transferred to the Malinka Natural Gas Plant. They then lost control of the tire repair shop and positions near Nikolsky's granary in the southwestern part of the city.
In addition, during the attack on Malinka, the Russian army also established firepower control on the area of the 11420 automobile company and the branch of the O-0530 Highway, making it impossible for the 79th Brigade to effectively launch a counterattack against the Russian army.
