　 In July 1952, in order to seek the solution to the issue of Korean War prisoners of war, Chinese negotiators proposed to the United States the principle of repatriation of all armed personnel captured by both sides. However, the US still insisted on the proposition of "voluntary repatriation" and on October 8, it brutally declared an indefinite recession of the armistice negotiations. Then, on October 14, the attack was launched on the positions of the two companies of the Shangganling Volunteer Army. The US is called "Kindustrial Offensive".

In order to exert military pressure on our army, to create a favorable position in the negotiation seat, and to improve its defensive posture in the Jinhua area, the other side launched a very rampant attack on our army, which was the largest military offensive in a year, attempting to force our army to make concessions. The enemy mobilized more than 60,000 troops, more than 300 cannons, more than 2,170 tanks, and more than 3,000 aircraft were dispatched. More than 1.9 million artillery shells and more than 5,000 bombs were poured into two positions of about 3.7 square kilometers of of the volunteer army. The intensity of the battle is rare before, especially the artillery firepower density, which has exceeded the level of World War II. The top of our position was cut down by two meters, and the soil and rocks on the high ground were blown up by 1-2 meters, forming a scorched earth, and many tunnels were shortened by five or six meters. Although the enemy used unprecedentedly concentrated artillery in the history of world war, it could not break the Volunteer Army's steel defense line. The volunteer army has a total of more than 40,000 people. Relying on a solid defensive position with tunnels as the backbone, they bravely and tenaciously fought against the attacking enemy. Each surface position was repeatedly fought for several times, and the battle situation was unprecedentedly tense and fierce.

The offensive was crushed, commanded by the commander of the 8th Army of the US Army, Van Vritte, and defended the position, creating an example of defending defensive warfare. The purpose of "United Nations Army " launched this offensive was to try to reverse the passive situation on the battlefield, but the result was the opposite. At that time, The Associated Press reported: "This battle of Jinhua has now reached an unprecedented intensity in the Korean War.
