After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, the US government on China has become tougher. It now appears that the United States is increasingly supporting the implementation of the " Pacific deterrence plan." As early as 2014, in response to Russia's annexation of Crimea, the United States launched the "European Deterrence Program", but the results proved that the United States had failed. In March of this year, someone from the Pentagon suggested implementing the "Pacific Deterrence Program" in the Indo-Pacific region, which aims to convince allies and partners of the United States' commitment to the region. The core of all the planning behind the "Pacific Threat Plan" is to deter China. According to the plan, the US troops stationed in the Asia-Pacific region will give priority to deploying the most advanced weapons and equipment, while the US troops stationed in Japan and South Korea will increase their offensive capabilities. In addition, the U.S. military will also strengthen the rotating deployment of troops in , Guam, , and Australia. The purpose is to keep the US military away from the Chinese coastline and enhance its defensive capabilities and rapid response capabilities on the second island chain.
In fact, the US promulgated the "National Defense Authorization Act" for fiscal year 2021 is also a Taiwan-related bill. The "Pacific Deterrence Program" proposed by the bill reaffirms that the "Taiwan Relations Act" and the "Six Taiwan-related Guarantees" are US-Taiwan relations. At the same time, it also reiterated the continued arms sales to Taiwan and the expansion of military exchanges between the United States and Taiwan. This means that in the big game of Sino-US games, Taiwan will be pushed by the Trump administration to the forefront of confrontation with mainland China, making it work for the US military. In this regard, the Tsai Ing-wen authorities actively cater to the United States and seek to participate in the US military's Pacific Rim joint military exercises and invite US warships and aircraft to dock at the Taiwan island port and airport. Furthermore, both the United States and Taiwan hope to increase their deterrence against mainland China by deepening their defense cooperation. But if the deterrence fails, the United States will try to delay the decision-making and action speed of the People’s Liberation Army , and buy time for the US troops deployed on the second island chain such as Guam to go to the Taiwan Strait.
It is worth noting that as soon as the United States passed the Taiwan-related bill, senior Taiwan military officials clamored to shoot down the Continental Army aircraft. According to Taiwan media reports, Taiwan’s Deputy Minister of Defense Zhang Zheping stated that if the Chinese People’s Liberation Army sends a large military drone and has “attack hostility” against Taiwan, it will intercept, identify, and even shoot down by comparison. According to Taiwan media analysis, the high-ranking officials of the Taiwan military clamored to shoot down the Continental Army aircraft. It is not just a drone. Both inside and outside the words imply that they will take tougher countermeasures against the Continental Army aircraft. However, public opinion on the island generally believes that the Taiwan military is just "sniffing", "chanting slogans", "if there is a kind of attack," and "if you don't have it, don't brag." Prior to this, both Tsai Ing-wen and Su Zhenchang had mentioned the so-called "open fight" on the cross-strait issue. Su Zhenchang even clamored, "If the two sides of the strait start fighting, I will fight with him if I give me a broom." This time, the high-level Taiwanese military said that they would "fire" when they "attack hostility", apparently they wanted to "fire the first shot." Regardless of whether they are such a "thief", but at least it shows that they do have such a "thief".
What we particularly need to pay attention to is that in the US "Pacific Deterrence Program", the United States not only established Taiwan's military position in the Indo-Pacific strategy, but also unabashedly proposed to further arm Taiwan as a new means of deterring the mainland; Taiwan, on the other hand, is intensifying its confrontation and provocation, and taking the opportunity to speed up the process of "refusing to plan for independence." This also means that the United States and Taiwan have reached a consensus on the issue of confronting the mainland, and they are no longer shouting slogans, but have begun to take a substantial step. More importantly, we should see that the United States has reached a cross-party consensus on the issue of obstructing China's national reunification and national rejuvenation. Even if it visits the White House, there will be no fundamental changes. Therefore, the resolution of the Taiwan issue is really urgent!
