Recently, social media reported that the Pakistani patrol was again ambushed in Balochistan. The ambushers attacked an armed pickup truck of a Pakistani patrol on an arid desert road. During the fierce fighting, many Pakistani military and police personnel died. Finally, armed men rushed down the hillside with AK and seized the patrol's armed pickup and anti-aircraft machine guns.
On October 15, two attacks were launched in Balochistan, which killed 12 Pakistani warships. Among them was the attack on the National Oil and Gas Development Co., Ltd. (OGDCL) convoy on the Macland Coastal Highway, killing 6 security personnel.
Balochistan armed groups have repeatedly attacked Pakistani military and police personnel in recent years. In Balochistan, Pakistan, there are various armed groups, including the Balochistan Defense Army, the Balochistan Tiger, the Balochistan Youth Tiger, the Balochistan United Front, the Balochistan BLF and the Balochistan BLA and many more. From 2004 to 2016, they launched 690 attacks. Armed attacks and bombing attacks accounted for 88.8% of the total number of attacks.
The situation in Pakistan’s Balochistan province is very complicated. This province has an area of 340,000 square kilometers, while the whole country of Pakistan is only 790,000 square kilometers. At the same time, Balochistan is an arid wasteland, with a population of just over 7 million, mostly Baluchis. It is close to Afghanistan and Iran, and to the south is the sea.
Moreover, the economy here is very poor. The economic aggregate of Bale Province only accounts for 3.5% of the total economic output of Pakistan. In the best fiscal year, the economic growth rate of Pakistan is 8.4%, while the economic growth rate of Bale Province is only 2 %. Since the discovery of oil in Balochistan in recent years, the situation has become more complicated.
Another troublesome place in Pakistan is the Federal Tribal District with an area of 270,000 square kilometers, close to Afghanistan, mainly Pashtuns. Pakistan has a total of 790,000 square kilometers, of which 610,000 square kilometers are covered. Baluchistan and the Federal Tribal District are areas with very tight security. Moreover, this has not yet said that we have to fight against India in Kashmir and monitor the Indian armored forces in Punjab! It is difficult for
to completely suppress these armed organizations. The important reason is that the local tribal armed forces are prevalent and the terrain is complicated. To completely solve the problem, a very large military and police force and economic investment are required. In Pakistan and India's 900,000 army confrontation, at sea, but also against India, in terms of the number and performance of nuclear weapons against India. It is actually difficult for Pakistan to completely eliminate various armed organizations in Balochistan and Federal Tribal Areas. It is very difficult for
to conduct a counter-guerrilla war in the arid mountainous area of 610,000 square kilometers. What's more, close to Afghanistan and Iran, there are a large number of Pashtuns in Afghanistan, and India will secretly assist them.
Because the funding is very tight, the Pakistani military and police personnel carrying out patrols in Balochistan and the Federal Tribal District are very poorly equipped. Most of them only have ordinary off-road and AK assault rifles, and most are armed pickups. A patrol takes 2-3 days or more. In arid uninhabited mountains, it is easy to be attacked by a large number of armed men in ambush. If you want to change, you must first greatly upgrade your equipment. On the mountain road, an armed pickup could not beat a bunch of AK gunmen who set up ambush.
