Chen Yusheng is from Taixing, Jiangsu Province. The locals affectionately call him "Commander Wag" which means "our commander". Chen Yusheng was engaged in underground party work in Shanghai in the early 1930s. Due to irresistible factors, he lost contact with the organization and did not recover until the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War. After the outbreak of the war, Chen Yusheng pulled up a guerrilla force and relied on the warlord forces in the Jiangsu and Central areas - Shandong, Jiangsu and Anhui Guerrilla General Command Li Mingyang and Li Changjiang, and was about to get a regular number and become a detachment leader. Later, the Northern Jiangsu Special Committee contacted Chen Yusheng to solve his party membership problem and sent political and military cadres to Chen Yusheng's army. And being with Li Mingyang is not a long-term solution, even if you only get a number.
In the 1940 Guocun defense battle, Chen Yusheng led his troops to revolt on the battlefield. Later, Chen Yusheng's troops were organized into the 8th Regiment of the 3rd Column of the Northern Su Command of the New 4th Army. Chen Yusheng served as deputy commander of the column, and then served as security commander of the Central Suzhou Administrative Office, and later as commander of the Third Military Sub-district of the Central Suzhou Military Region. Chen Yu is honest and looks like an enthusiastic farmer and looks very friendly.
Chen Yusheng's wife is called "Captain Yang" and is named Yang Guifang. She is a female hero and heroine who led the troops to fight against Japan with Chen Yusheng. In 1941, Chen Yusheng received an order from the organization to start reopening the incense hall and accepting apprentices, and to open up the anti-Japanese situation. Unexpectedly, this trick was really effective in carrying out work using the form of a gang and made it prosperous.
Chen Yusheng was unwilling to regain his old career and did not want to do this, but because of the consent of President Chen, he finally chose to do so. But because of this, Chen Yusheng and Yang Guifang were in big trouble. In the 1950s after the founding of New China, Chen Yusheng worked in the East China Navy, working as commander, political commissar, deputy chief of staff, etc.; and the former "Captain Yang" became the factory director in a textile factory. When the cadre trial was heard in the 1950s, Chen Yusheng was arrested. The charges he had filed were scary: spies, traitors, class dissidents, hooking up with traitors and puppet troops, reactionary gang leaders, etc. Several comrades of the Prefectural Committee who worked with Chen Yusheng back then came forward to prove that this was approved by the Central China Bureau and the Prefectural Committee discussed and decided to do so. But this still doesn't work, and the leader in charge of cadre review work still refuses to let Chen Yusheng go.
Finally, Chen Yusheng and his wife were imprisoned for several years. Chen Yi passed by Nanjing and found Chen Yusheng to chat, and then he learned about this situation. President Chen was very angry and criticized the comrades in charge of this matter: "Do you understand? This is a need for struggle. If the person surnamed Chen is wrong, it is me, the person surnamed Chen who asked him to do it wrong. If you want to keep the person surnamed Chen, it is better to keep the person surnamed Chen!"
Chen Yusheng and his wife were finally released, and the comrades from the provincial party committee also arranged appropriate work for them. In 1989, Chen Yusheng and Yang Guifang were recuperating at Nanjing Workers' Hospital. Chen Yusheng, 89, has a memory decline and can't remember many things. He can't remember who the old comrade who came to visit him, but he actually asked, "You came from Beijing. Do you know what President Chen is doing recently? Is President Chen healthy? I heard that he had cancer, and his subordinates hope that he will live a healthy and long life."
