1947 to February 1948, our army fought frequently and successfully completed the tasks given by our superiors, and further trained and improved the quality of the troops.
1. Daiputun Annihilation Battle
I. The main force of the Northeast Field Army , in the autumn offensive, annihilated nearly two enemy divisions in the north of Shenyang at Zhangwu and Faku ; moved between Shenyang and Jinzhou , and wiped out two more enemy divisions. In this way, the enemy will be forced to Shenyang, Changchun and Jinzhou.
Liaonan still has three points: Liaoyang , Anshan , and Yingkou ; our main force moved to the south of Shenyang, and the first, second and third columns were in Shenyang to fight against the enemy that was launched from Shenyang, the fourth and sixth columns and the only division of the Liaonan Military Region, the second and third divisions under the Liaoning Military Region, and the third division of Andong were preparing to encircle and annihilate these three remaining points.
Our Liaonan Military Region, under the orders of Northeast Yeshi and Liaodong Military Region, captured the enemies of Benxi , Liaoyang, Anshan and Yingkou, and isolated them each. Our second division in southern Liaoning was commanded by Zuo Ye and Cao Zan three times as political commissar, surrounding the enemy in Yingkou. Anton's third division surrounded the enemy of Benxi Lake. The second division in Liaoning was led by Peng Longfei and Rufuyi to penetrate directly on both sides of the Taizi River between Liaoyang and Shenyang. It did not allow the enemy from Liaoyang to flee back to Shenyang, but also wanted to restructure the enemy from Shenyang. The only division of the Liaonan Military Region, the military artillery regiment and the first division troops surrounded the 52nd Army in Anshan. He neither allowed him to escape back to Liaoyang nor to escape back to Yingkou, and waited for the Fourth and Sixth Column to arrive and annihilate it. Based on this situation, the main unit of our Liaonan Military Region and the artillery regiment were stationed between Anshan, Liaoyang. One battalion of the 54th enemy division stationed in Liaoyang came out to reconnaise and test. In Dailutun, he was surrounded by a battalion of the vanguard of the Second Regiment of our Unique Division. Under the cover of our artillery regiment, he fought fiercely and wiped out the battalion in one fell swoop. This is the annihilation battle in Dailutun.
In this battle, more than 70 people below the enemy battalion commander were killed and injured, more than 170 people below the enemy deputy battalion commander were captured, and I was injured instructor Ma Fengwu below the 3. Many people. From then on, a gap was opened on the eastern side of Anshan, Liaoyang.
Before the battle, I and Zhai Yidong, Jin Zhenzhong, and Yu Qinghua, the commander of the Second Regiment, went to the front-line hill to observe for two days, and saw it very clearly. The enemy came out to detect our movements, and the other was to rob food, burn, kill, loot, and rape women. The local people hate the bandits and thieves of the Kuomintang army and are eager to send troops to eliminate them. The fourth company of our Second Regiment has more than 600 people, and they are hidden in a small village of more than 30 households, blocking the enemy in front and preventing them from approaching the village. As the enemy approached Dailutun, our artillery suddenly opened fire. The four companies in the second regiment were ambushed and attacked in two directions. After nearly 30 minutes of fierce battle, no one missed the net, and received the warm support of the masses.
Because we made sufficient preparations in advance, from the former leaders to the cavalry of the regiment battalion and company, they carefully observed the enemy's actions and did profound political and ideological mobilization work. The troops were in high spirits and this battle was fought beautifully. To this end, the front commander of the Military Region commended the first battalion of the 2nd Regiment of the Unit Division and the first company of the 2nd Battalion. Our Second Regiment is a newly established army, but the cadres are old. This victory has greatly encouraged the soldiers of the army and boosted their morale.
2. Ambush at Zhangtaizi Station
One night in January 1948, the Fourth Fifth Regiment of the Second Division, led by Commander Peng Longfei and Deputy Commander Rufu, sneaked into Zhangtaizi Station.
The enemies in Liaoyang and Anshan each dispatched one to strengthen the company , and under the cover of artillery fire, they attempted to retake the station. Our troops placed the enemy on the edge of the village to fight. The Fourth Regiment annihilated a reinforced company that came out of Liaoyang, and the Fifth Regiment annihilated a reinforced company that came out of Anshan. This was the first victory achieved by the Second Independent Division after entering southern Liaoning. In this battle, more than 70 enemies were killed, more than 150 enemies were captured, and 5 light and heavy machine guns and more than 120 rifles were seized. This made the enemies in Liaoyang and Shenyang completely cut off by us, and made Liaoyang completely surrounded by our army.
Our military region praised the Fourth and Fifth Regiments of the Second Independent Division, and praised them for their victory in the first battle in Liaonan.
3. Night attack on Shoushan Station
In January 1948, the Third Regiment of our Unique Division attacked Shoushan Station at night. After fierce hand-to-hand combat, one battalion and two companies were wiped out at Shoushan Station.Shoushan Station is an important station between Liaoyang and Anshan, and one battalion of the enemy's 52nd army is defending. After tenacious fighting, more than 70 people below the enemy battalion, company commander, and platoon leader were killed, more than 180 people below the platoon leader were captured, and 6 light and heavy machine guns, more than 140 rifles, and more than 30,000 bullets were seized. After occupying the Shoushan, the 12th Regiment of the One Division, the Artillery Regiment and the Forehead all entered the Shoushan. Seeing that the situation was not good, the enemy's 52nd Army was preparing to withdraw to Liaoyang, and our army launched a stubborn blockade in Shoushan. The enemy was anxious and used all the planes and cannons. After two days and three nights of fierce blocking battle, I killed and injured more than 700 enemy 52nd Army and more than 200 people coming out of Liaoyang to respond.
This completely surrounded the 52th Kuomintang army in Anshan City . The mission of "encircling the isolated enemy of Liaoyang, Anshan and Yingkou" given to us by the Fourth Field Command was completed, and the main force, the Fourth and Sixth Columns were created to encircle and annihilate the enemy. Our army paid the price of more than 400 casualties in the attack on Shoushan. After that, I rushed to the south of Anshan under the orders of Yeshi to prevent the enemy from escaping to Yingkou.
4. Tanggangzi's tough battle
On February 5, 1948, the second battalion of the Third Regiment of the Unique Division, my night attack on Tanggangzi was unsuccessful. Three months ago, our third regiment attacked once and failed to capture it. The enemy repaired fortifications, added many open forts, secret forts, and traffic trenches, and sent a battalion of 52 troops to defend it. After a day of looking at the terrain and preparing, I organized the artillery fire and decided to launch a fierce attack. Wei Huajie, the battalion commander of the 1st Battalion of our Third Regiment, led the entire battalion to bring a large number of explosives and blasting tubes and . After more than three hours of battle, all the enemies in the open castle and the undercastle were eliminated, more than 230 people below the battalion commander were killed, more than 50 people below the company commander were captured, forty or fifty remaining guns of the enemy were seized, and other weapons were destroyed. My first battalion injured more than 130 people below the company commander. This battle liberated more than 30 women captured by the enemy, and received warm support from the Tanggangzi masses and the staff of Tanggangzi sanatorium.
The enemy's fortifications are many and very strong, so the second battalion failed to succeed in its first attack method, which is a lesson. Comrade Su Kezhi, the commander of the Third Regiment, used his brains to lead the commander of the Third Regiment to the front line to repeatedly inspect the terrain, correctly selected the breakthrough point, organized the firepower, and did political and ideological work and tactical deployment overnight. Just like attacking Panlong Mountain in the past, attacked one fort one by one, knocked down one fort one, and then organized the firepower again, reducing casualties and seizing Tang Gangzi.
5. Gujiafang battle
Gujiafang is north of Tanggangzi, 8 miles apart and about ten miles away from Anshan. It is at the intersection of the railway trunk line and the mine railway between Anshan and Yingkou. There are steel and cement fortifications built by the Japanese, fortifications built by the Kuomintang with Anshan rails and steel plates, and there are more than 30 light and dark castles. It is a very strong position of the Kuomintang on the south side of Anshan. In this battle, I made careful preparations in advance and repeatedly organized the regiment camp cadres to view the terrain and conduct on-site research. Although the enemy in Anshan had several reinforcements, we were defeated. But the artillery fire in Anshan City can still be supported. The enemy's plane, come once in the morning and once in the afternoon. We found the contact signal between the enemy and the plane, using white cloth to point to our army with a blue cloth arrow. We used the trick, imitating the enemy's methods, and made false signals, pointing the blue arrow to the enemy's bunker group.
Because the enemy had phone at that time, we could shout, and our army and the enemy were mixed together, making it impossible for enemy planes to drop bombs or shoot. The battle lasted for a long time. A battalion of the 35th Regiment of the 25th Division of the 52nd Army of the enemy was wiped out, and most of them were eliminated in the enemy's bunkers, and the prisoners were all wounded. Among the weapons I surrendered, there was only one machine gun, one bazooka , and more than 50 rifles were good, and the other weapons were blown up. However, the number of bullets seized was large, with a total of more than 500,000 rounds. Our army only suffered more than 70 casualties.
This is a fierce battle. Since this enemy is only ten miles away from Anshan City, I have to capture this point and suppress the enemy coming out of Anshan to reinforce, so I called a howitzer company of the Artillery Division, specifically suppressing the enemy's mountain artillery group, so it cannot play a role. The four companies of our artillery regiment defeated four reinforced enemies with artillery fire.We completely adopted the method of attack and used firepower to cover the blasting team to destroy the enemy's solid fortifications, which greatly reduced our army's casualties. For each point you hit, you have to dig a traffic trench and approach another point from the traffic trench. Therefore, the battle took a long time and took more than 9 hours. In the railway culvert, the enemy had two platoons of reserve teams and built a castle at the entrance of the culvert. After our army exploded the castle outside the cave, we promptly ordered the troops and then used 50 kilograms of explosives to blow up the castle inside the entrance of the enemy's culvert.
This battle, the communication and liaison work was done well. I can command the company and talk directly with the battalion commander to understand their situation in a timely manner and give specific commands based on the circumstances they reported.

6. Tang Wangshan's battle
Tang Wangshan is on a small hill east of Gujiafang, the southeast corner of Anshan. An enemy company guarded there. I attacked with two companies of the first regiment and one battalion. The fortifications of Tang Wangshan were also solid bunker groups, but the terrain was favorable to me. I was in a condescending position and the enemy's artillery could not support it. I carried two 92 infantry artillery guns with people to 300 meters away from the enemy, aimed at the bunker, fired shells in succession, and directly fired them. After more than two hours of artillery battle, our infantry dug traffic trenches from the side of the mountain and approached Tang Wangshan. They exerted the power of small packages of explosives, blasting tubes, and grenades and . The traffic trenches we dug were connected to the enemy's traffic trenches, which allowed our team to fight the enemy's bunker from the enemy's traffic trenches. The enemy only came out to reinforce twice, and I used artillery fire to strike and defeat it. The battle lasted for 4 hours, killing more than 150 enemies and capturing 11 enemies.
Because of my artillery advantage, the enemy was suppressed. The assault troops only suffered more than 40 casualties, but the second echelon was paralyzed and was fired by enemy planes, causing more than 30 casualties.
The artillery's anti-aircraft gun and anti-aircraft machine gun implemented a dense firefight against the air strike of the enemy aircraft, causing one of the enemy aircraft to be seriously injured and fell down in the south of Liaoyang.
From this point of view, the outer strongholds south of Anshan have been completely wiped out by me. My only division in southern Liaoning began to prepare for the attack.
7. Attack Anshan and seize three commanding heights.
The enemy stationed in Anshan was the 52nd Army of the Kuomintang's direct troops, and the commander was Zhao Guangwu. In the winter of 1946, the army was annihilated by our fourth column in Xinkailing . Its 73rd Regiment was also annihilated by me on the roadside.
was attacking the peripheral strongholds, and I wiped out 6 companies. Therefore, most of its troops include the security team, the security team of Anshan Iron and Steel Plant, the return group, and the return group, with a total of more than 10,000 people hiding in Anshan. It has more than 20 mountain cannons, distributed throughout the city.
The fortifications of the Anshan enemy were built with steel from Anshan under the command of US consultants for more than two years. The fortifications are built in a solid manner, and along the city are open reclamation, secret castles, barbed wire mesh, steel piles, wooden villages, etc. The city was centered on the commanding heights of Shrine Mountain and established a defensive position; more than a dozen strongholds were established in the east and west railways, with the steel company and the municipal government building as the core.
When deploying a siege, my only division was used as a reserve team, and the main attack mission was held by brothers. At this moment, I asked my brothers: If you can't open the gap, let's continue to fight. Sure enough, as I expected, the main attack point served by the brothers was not broken through after three charges. I immediately made suggestions to my brothers and asked them to give way and our only division will attack. They agreed with me and made way for the Unique Division.
I asked Deputy Commander Kuang Yimin and Political Commissar Qiu Chuangcheng of the Artillery Column to support my unique division with artillery fire. They completely agree. The deployment and practical process of my only division is: the third regiment is the first echelon, the first regiment is the second echelon, and the second regiment is the third echelon.The military region artillery regiment approached the enemy and, with the cooperation of the Second Artillery Regiment, used 20 minutes of fierce bombardment to open a gap in the enemy's barbed wire mesh Luzhai Muzhai City Wall. Our third regiment was divided into three echelons, and with the support of artillery fire, attacked the Shrine Mountain with small bags of explosives and blasting tubes, exploded the enemy's bright forts and undercasts, and occupied the Anshan commanding heights Shrine Mountain. After following the third regiment, a group of people attacked Anshan Iron and Steel Company , conquering the strongholds one by one. Under the leadership of the first regiment leader Ding Xuece, they captured the commanding heights of Anshan Iron and Steel Company. After following the first regiment, the second regiment captured the Anshan Municipal Government from the east of the shrine with small bags of explosives, grenades, and blasting tubes.
After I occupied the commanding heights, I used firepower to suppress the enemy and covered my main force, the fourth and sixth columns, to attack the market. Then, I handed over the commanding heights to my brothers and we evacuated from the city. Our division annihilated 6 companies of the 25th Division of the 52nd Army of the enemy, one company of the security team, and one part of the military police, and captured a total of 1,470 enemies, seized 6 mountain cannons, more than 40 light children's machine guns, and more than 400 long and short guns. During this autumn and winter offensive, our southern Liaoning troops suffered more than 2,000 casualties, and more than 1,000 casualties were killed or killed in the battle of Anshan alone. But we won the victory, showed our might, and also had a good influence on Big Brother's troops.
