Letter written by Lu Mingkun to Zhu Jinxiang
Their love story began in Shanghai in 1951. They are in the 2nd Air Division of the People's Liberation Army of China. When we met for the first time, Lu Mingkun, a tall and handsome and straightforward Shandong man, made Zhu Jinxiang fall in love with him at first sight, which was completely in line with her imagination of the "Blue Sky Hero". When the introducer asked her about her opinion after meeting, she smiled shyly and acquiesced.
But strangely, Lu Mingkun lost the following text and never took the initiative to contact Zhu Jinxiang. It was not until one day more than two months later that the introducer suddenly said to Zhu Jinxiang, "Lu Mingkun asked you to meet again." Zhu Jinxiang's face immediately changed: "There has been no news for so long. How can I say that I will meet when I meet now?" The introducer saw her being upset and told her the truth. It turned out that after the two met, Lu Mingkun fell in love with her at first sight and immediately reported to the organization. At that time, the discipline was strict and the team leader was above the brigade and the other party had to fall in love; as a pilot, the partner of love had to be strictly reviewed. As soon as he learned that the political review was approved, Lu Mingkun immediately contacted Zhu Jinxiang. They soon became boyfriend and girlfriend.

Just as 18-year-old Zhu Jinxiang and 22-year-old Lu Mingkun were looking forward to a better life in the future, Lu Mingkun, as the deputy captain of the 3rd Brigade of the 6th Regiment of the 2nd Air Division, received a task: go to the Northeast and enter North Korea to participate in the war. Before leaving, Lu Mingkun told Zhu Jinxiang that when the war ended, he would take her back to his hometown in Shandong to visit her mother. Zhu Jinxiang has always kept it in his heart.
But war is cruel. In December 1951, Lu Mingkun died in an air battle. This letter became his final letter for his lover!
Jinxiang:
Since I proposed to resist the United States and aid Korea, my work and flight have further. The mission given to us by our superiors this time is air transfer, and the mission is arduous. The superiors suggest that we can transfer from the air well this time and we can become half a pilot. In order to get the honorable title of half of the pilot, we have tried our best to win this honorable title with confidence, we have seen it on the route of the 19th on the transport plane . If I have no other illness or accidents, half of the pilot will be the insurance (are you unhappy with this title?)
Jinxiang, I sit on this old cow-like plane, holding the map, comparing with the ground target, going and going, my eyes, not for a moment, are not blindly looking at the ground, to complete the major task given to us by the superior this time. This time we all go to exercise. You are training in the war environment, I am training in air combat, you want me to be a hero, and I hope you can strive to join the party and be called a model.
…
We will not be able to meet in the Northeast in the future, we are too far apart. If you can't die on the battlefield, you can see you back, and you will die.
Jinxiang, let’s communicate more in the future. Goodbye, goodbye. This time I went there, and it is not cold yet. Just like this, the soybeans, sorghum, , and corn are all green, and they have a special feeling, with a taste outside.
Sincerely
salute
Mingkun (Note: Lu Mingkun)
On December 22, 1951, Lu Mingkun was buried in Shenyang Martyrs Cemetery of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. The cemetery number is No. 2, Sixth Row in the East District.
Later, Zhu Jinxiang was admitted to the Department of Journalism at Peking University. After graduation, he was assigned to Lanzhou. He worked as a reporter and also worked as an associate professor at , Lanzhou University . In the summer of 1956, Zhu Jinxiang went back to Beijing with an internship from Harbin and came to Shenyang Martyrs Cemetery for the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. That day happened to be the day when the cemetery was closed. Seeing her tears in her eyes, the gatekeeper made an exception and opened the door. In front of the tomb of the Martyrs Lu Mingkun, Zhu Jinxiang could no longer suppress his sadness and cried loudly in front of his lover who was separated by yin and yang...
In July 1986, Zhu Jinxiang came to Shenyang for the second time to fight against the US and Aid Korea Martyrs Cemetery to pay tribute to Lu Mingkun. She also provided the staff with contact information about some of the comrades who are still in charge of the Air Force Division. The cemetery staff therefore found a photo of Martyr Liu Zhongcheng, the captain of the 1st Brigade of the 6th Regiment of the Air Force Division.
On September 28, 2006, Zhu Jinxiang came to Shenyang Martyrs Cemetery again and cried loudly in front of the tomb of Martyrs Lu Mingkun. Previously, she went to Lu Mingkun’s hometown in Shandong to see her mother, but was told that Lu Mingkun’s mother was taken to Heilongjiang by Lu Mingkun’s sister after he died.

Zhu Jinxiang cried in front of the martyrs' tomb
After commemorating Lu Mingkun from Shenyang, Zhu Jinxiang went to Jixi City and found Lu Mingkun's sister. At this time, Lu Mingkun's mother had passed away. When Zhu Jinxiang took out Lu Mingkun's photo, the 85-year-old sister Lu Mingkun burst into tears: "Sister, if my younger brother is still there, how great would our family be!"

Now, the letter written by Lu Mingkun to Zhu Jinxiang is being exhibited in the Shenyang Martyrs Cemetery Memorial Hall.
