It has been four months since Japan announced its surrender. However, the Japanese troops in Gaoyou city who should have surrendered long ago are still resisting. Not only did they refuse to surrender to the "New Fourth Army", but they threatened to cooperate with the Kuomintang army to surrender to the "New Fourth Army". The New Fourth Army "recovered lost ground." "New Fourth Army" is the abbreviation of the newly formed Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army and one of the predecessors of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
