Now the KMT not only agrees with the United States in its statement, but also claims that all countries enjoy "legitimate navigation and overflight rights" in the Taiwan Strait. The implication is that it supports the actions of U.S. warships and reconnaissance aircraft in the Taiwan Strait. This statement once again exposed the KMT's " pro-America” nature.
Zhu Lilun was not wrong in saying that the Kuomintang is a "pro-American" party. Now the Kuomintang no longer pretends to be a "pro-American" party and directly expresses its loyalty to the United States. The reason why the Kuomintang has taken a pro-American line and even colluded with the Democratic Progressive Party is mainly related to its own situation.
After the Kuomintang's defeat in Taiwan, it has long held a leadership position on the island. However, this situation was reversed after the end of the "Chiang Dynasty". Due to a series of perverse actions by the Kuomintang, the Democratic Progressive Party rose rapidly by inciting public opinion.
The Democratic Progressive Party has been expanding its power since it entered the island's political stage. However, some people in the Kuomintang believe that the one-China principle should be abandoned and adopt the same stance as the DPP. Therefore, the Kuomintang has followed suit. It is generally believed that Zhu Lilun may participate in the 2024 Taiwan leadership election. However, Zhu Lilun’s voice is not high at present. In comparison, Taipei Mayor Ke Wenzhe and New Taipei Mayor Hou Youyi is even more favored.
Therefore, Zhu Lilun may hope to win more votes by visiting the United States. In addition, the former chairman of the Kuomintang Jiang Qichen will also visit the United States in the near future and will discuss the so-called "international participation", Taiwan Strait security and other issues with the United States.
In the future, the Kuomintang will also compete with the Democratic Progressive Party to embrace the United States, so we can no longer have any illusions about the Kuomintang. No matter how distorted it is by the United States, the Kuomintang, and the Democratic Progressive Party, it cannot change mainland China's sovereignty over the Taiwan Strait, and the mainland will resolutely defend its sovereignty.
