On January 1, 1959, the local public security forces were officially reorganized into the "Chinese People's Armed Police Force."
In January 1963, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of Public Security issued an order to change the name of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force to the “Chinese People’s Public Security Force” on February 1. In July 1966, the designation of the Chinese People's Public Security Force was revoked, and the troops were unified and reorganized into the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
