In 1995, when studying abroad was not very popular, I came to Cyprus to study abroad. At that time, I was the fourth international student in Cyprus. I didn't think too much about choosing Cyprus at the time. The main reason was that after finishing my undergraduate degree here, I could choose to continue my postgraduate studies in other countries in the world, because the education here is recognized by countries such as Europe and the United States.
Unexpectedly, after completing my master's degree in the UK, Ireland , I still wanted to return to Cyprus, not only because I discovered that there were business opportunities here, but also because the environment here is indeed livable.
In this country, from familiar to stranger, I think the life here is the biggest difference from the country. Take my hometown Xi'an as an example. First of all, the comprehensive prices, food, gasoline, etc. are similar to domestic prices, and even food will be cheaper. Water and electricity will be relatively expensive, but at the same time, it also reduces some other costs. Therefore, the normal living expenses are not high every month. Take our family of three as an example. You can live a good life every month with 1,000 euros.
Below are some of the pros and cons of the island for easy comparison.
It is sunny all year round
There are 9 months in summer here, 300 days a year, and it almost doesn’t rain in summer. The temperature is also between 15-20 degrees from December to February. This temperature can be said to be very suitable for living. It is by the beach when you go out. In summer, swimming with your children after dinner has become a habit. Before, my child was in the country and was prone to illness, so it was normal to go to the hospital once a month. But after coming, my body has been very healthy, which may be due to air or frequent swimming and hiking. In short, the physical changes are very obvious.
The folk customs are simple and enthusiastic
The people here do not discriminate against, and they treat everyone very friendly. If they need help, they will stand up. It is very safe in Cyprus, similar to domestic ones. Compared with other European countries, there are very few thefts and violent incidents here.
High education quality
Greek Although it is the common language here, the popularity of English is also very high. Commonwealth education is adopted. Many Chinese who have green cards use the stuffing as a springboard and then send their children to study in the UK.
My child is studying at Paphos International School.
Half a day of classes every day, from 7:30 to 1:00 in the morning in elementary school, from 2:00 in junior high school to high school, and from 2:00 in the afternoon. The afternoon is basically free time. You can participate in free interest classes at school according to your child's interests. Of course, if you feel that the training on campus cannot meet your requirements, you can also find a place to study outside the school.
The tuition fee for private schools in Cyprus. My child’s age is about 3,000 euros a year. It may be around 5,000 euros a year. In high school, it is the most expensive tuition fee (10th to 12th grade), basically 7,000 euros to 8,000 euros a year. If it is not compared with first-tier cities in China, and if it is compared with my hometown Xi'an, the annual tuition fee of Xi'an's top international schools is about 150,000 to 300,000 yuan.
Cyprus courses are diverse, with a large range of coverage and strong autonomy. Students can choose their own interests, future plans and talents. Compared with domestic exam-oriented education, Cyprus education emphasizes more on cultivating children's creativity, innovation and practical abilities, and has a stronger learning interest. Children are not under such pressure to study, and they can learn knowledge.
However, no country is absolutely perfect. As a country with an area of only half of Beijing, it also has its limitations:
Travel is inconvenient and public transportation is inconvenient. It is best to buy a car here because the bus is not very convenient and the cost of taking a taxi is relatively expensive.
Water and electricity bills are more expensive
If you have a garden, you need to water it. This way, the water bill is more expensive, and the electricity bill is about 100 euros a month, because you need to turn on the air conditioner in summer.
Pharmacies are inconvenient
Because the people on the island are lazy, some pharmacies are only open for half a day
It also combines the above factors. I have never recommended that young people come to work hard, because immigrants cannot work locally and can only open their own companies or do some small businesses. Cyprus is more suitable for parents who bring their children to receive education, as well as middle-aged and elderly people who come to invest and retire.
